Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Butelka, warka do 15.04.2035 (czyli rok od rozlewu). lekki gushing. Aromaty ewidentnie kwaskowato owocowe (niedojrzale winogrona, cytryna) + mila, lambikowa dzikosc (niedrazniaca nawet osob pierwszy raz pijacych w zyciu lambica, ledwo co stajenna). W smaku kwasne calkiem mocno, ciut slodyczy, bez goryczki, nadal owoce, jakies cos na ksztalt drewna / tanin. Bardzo fajne, dlugie posmaki analogiczne do smaku.

37cl bottle. Dark orange with a light tan head and visible carbonation. Murky sedimentation at the bottom of the bottle. Sour, with notes of vinegar, barnyard funk, macerated fruit, oak. Refreshing due to its medium-light body and high carbonation.

Non ha nè difetti ma nemmeno pregi particolari. Manca quel qualcosa che la faccia distinguere dalle altre.

Boon Oude Geuze 2011-2012 Pours a slightly hazed orange-amber color with a small, white head, immediately collapsing to a small film at the rim of the glass. Smells of ripe red apple, together with a nice, cheesy funkiness. Lemon zest and old wood bark among sweeter toffee malts create a pleasant depth on the nose. Has a very mineralic, lively carbonation, supported by tart lemon zest, creating a pleasant interplay with a sweeter malts defined finish. Tastes of a slightly harsh, carbonation supported, stony minerality among sour lemon pulp and a oaken hint on the back end. Offers dusty toffee malts after the swallow, together with the beer’s profound mineral quality. Finishes with a decent lemon tartness among funky cream cheese, wood bark and fermented, fruit coated toffee. Drinks very easy, refreshing with a nice depth of flavors to it, while its mineralic presence is a tad over the top, preventing more subtle flavors from becoming recognizable, especially during the beginning.
