3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 judasbeer (431) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 31, 2010
Appearance: Cloudy, but bright golden with lively, effervescent look. Fingerwide, airy, fluffy white head.
Aroma: Fresh lime peels, grapfruity bitersweet-tartness, balanced leather and horse-blanket notes.
Flavor: Tart, but not puckering, grapefruity main impression. Almost sharply dry initially, and gets more sour at the end with some spicy somewhat sulphurous interplay.
Mouthfeel: Bittersweet, dry, fruity, tart with mineral background. Filling yeasty texture, effervescent quality.
Overall: Interesting Gueuze with lot of citrusy tartness and dry mouthfeel.
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 DeanF (1477) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - JAN 30, 2010
Pours into a chalice with lots of carbonation, very little head, which dissipates quickly. Has a scent of dry cider with ammonia on the nose and some stuffy armpit smells in there. The taste is incredibly unique, very sour, very tart with an antiseptic finish that almost made me gag on the first sip. Given that I’m a huge Geuze fan, this didn’t seem right, and the taste was better on subsequent sips but still definitely not refreshing. I give it extra points for uniqueness, but it reminds me why they usually add berries to lambics, to cover up this definitely acquired taste. Palate is perfect, however. Ultimately this is one that every lambic fan should try, but those unfamiliar with the style will want something a little easier to deal with.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 canicule (90) - IRELAND - DEC 28, 2009
Bottle 2006-2007, drunk Dec 2009. citrus, pale, hazy, rocky head, lightly bitter, medium sourness, soft carbonation, bitter. Fruity, sharp aroma. Sour taste gives way to a balanced, bitter finish. Pretty nice.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SSSteve (2923) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - DEC 23, 2009
bottle. i don’t see a bottling date (lambic with no date??) anyway, best before 8/6/2027. truly wonderful aroma fills the area without even holding to my nose. aroma of fresh fruits(orange, lemon, apricot) and berries(strawberry), very light tartness. lightly hazy gold under medium sized white head. a bitter apricot-ish geuze. light, dry, and crisp. low on acidity.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Travlr (4536) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 23, 2009
Hazy straw colored with a medium white head that settles lowly and leaves moderate lacing.
Decent fresh bread aroma with a hint of barnyard.
Nicely dry, citrus and dust, with an edge of sourness toward the end and a dry bitter finish.
Great body for the style.
Good one, a winner.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 nate2g (1548) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours clear golden with a stable white head. A true funky nose, wood, citrus, hay and lemon that comes through on the nose and flavour. Quite heavy carbonation. The mouthfeel is slightly acidic that follows right through to the finish. Not a bad gueze but lacking the refreshing dryness I prefer. (RateBeer Sydney Xmas Gathering 2009 - cheers Bridge!)
