COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

37.5 cl bottle at home, 2010-2011 brew season, so quite young. Fine orange-gold colour with a lively effervescence and a tight white head. Aroma of sour lemon and a hint of vegetable hop, earthy and pungent. Taste is initially sharp and sour with a sweet aftertaste. Lively on the tongue with a long dry finish. Overall a fine beer and one with a developing character as the glass empties. Superb with a strong cheese, I enjoyed this with some Dorset Blue Vinney.

2011/2012 bottling from Mitra (Beukenweg, Amsterdam) Heady, sweet aroma without too much oak. Not to sour, not to sweet. Well balanced but lacking in any complexity. The Marriage Parfait is significantly better, but this is not bad for the price (about 2.65 Euro a bottle at Mitra).

Aroma: Sourness, wildness, fruits, classic gueuze aroma. Taste: Lemon with peel, citrus, sweet fruits and wild character. Pale colour, big white head, poor lacing and light carbonation. Very light and drinkable beer. Price [Warsaw, Poland] 24PLN (375ml bottle) - Brewing season 2011/2012

Hazy liquid with large, airy head. Very fruity aroma. Light body, little carbonation. Rich, fruity taste. Taste is quite sour and a bit sweet. Not my kind of beer, but definitely not bad either.

0,75 l Flasche vom Edeka (Braufactum) sehr spritzig und sehr sauer, erinnert an Apfel / Cider und Zitrone, keinerlei Süße. Sehr lecker. Trockener, leicht holziger Abgang. Die 7% Alkohol verstecken sich gut.

Pours a light translucent gold with no head. Aroma of citrus, peaches, oak and slight vinegar. Taste is tart with fruit and funk equally present. Nice balance yet really complex.

Bottled. A hazy orange beer with a bubbly white head. Aroma is sour and acidic, with lemon notes. Taste has some malty sweetness and a lot of acidic and citrusy notes. Dry woodness in the end. Low bitterness.

This bottle allowed me to find out the reason why the metal caps are on top of the corks - when I was half way through untwisting it the cork exploded out and across the room. Pours a cloudy opaque orange with a fizzy white head, good retention and good lacing. Aroma of apple, oak and dust. A little vanilla and white wine works its way through. Taste of apples, pears and light acidity. Sour lemon flavour and orange peel bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation. First sour I’ve had, cool.

bread, hazy, heavily sour, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, oily feel. Pretty surprising beer, I will have another one!
