Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

I loved this. Pours effervescent yellow. Aromas are fruity and candy followed by tart lemon and white wine. Flavors are lemon, white wine and a nice strawberry like sweetness to round things out. Delicious!

2009-2010. S: Some pepper, some notes of tropical fruit. A: White foam that dissipates quickly to a ring around the rim. Hazy orange-brown color. T: Loads of grapefruit. Some funky backnotes, sourness that makes your cheeks want to come together. Not very complex. O: A solid gueuze, though I prefer it a bit fresher.

Hazy orange beer, with a big white head which dissolves quite fast leaving a persistant lacing. Vinegar and green apples on the nose, very appealing. Taste is a clear and crisp sour, a little bitterness, just enough to add some complexity, but the sourness prevails. I love this kind of beer and this is a very good one.

The body has a hazy golden orange color with lots of beautiful Champaign like carbonation. On top there is a lively, big, fluffy head with a creamy off white color. It fades slowly but hangs on to a thin covering that make some slick lacing on the glass. The aroma is interesting and complex. In the nose there is notes of apples, apple cider vinegar, light oak notes, wet wool and rose petals. Its flavor is just as complex as the aroma. There is a little bit of astringent citrus with hard apple cider notes that give it a nice sharp sour character. Also there are some floral notes, dry hay and light woody oak notes and next to no hops. The finish has a sharp dry sour oak finish. The body is about medium with lively mouth feel and lively active carbonation.

After a long hot bicycle ride; poor it in the proper glass, cold and experience the slight hazy appearance, almost orange. Then feel how the acidity shrinks your palate. And then, when it goes down: heaven!
