COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

Yellow orange in color, virtually no head.A simple beer that is tart but not really overly sour

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2003 Clear & golden topped with a thin yet firm lather..an aroma of guezish barnyards and leather, mildew and sweat...skizzy barnyards in flavor, with mildew, dryness, and stale notes dancing on a wooden floor..acidically mellow said the horse to his skin...

Starts with horse blaket, citric acid, a little barnyard, and a Creamy fisheyed head. Glowing yellow orange honey color. New oak, lemon, mellowing malts, and a "just sharp enough" citric acid quality to make this a very deceptive brew.

Wham, bang, sour! Nose is wonderful--lemony notes mix with freshly cut green grass and oregano and pepper. Flavor is just too overwhelmingly tart for me to appreciate. Literally like sucking a lemon, though there are some spicy notes kicked in to the equation. My wife, a lover of sour and sweet things, loves it however. Perhaps just not suited to my palate.

2001: Apple and plums with sugar caramel tones. Sour through and through. Decent but not one of the better gueuzes.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2003 Best before 2022 (1999-2000 vintage). Old rating 3.3: [This definatley needs more time in the cellar. It tastes very fresh and sour and is not very developed or complex. I've got eight bottles of these, which I won't drink until they are more mature. I'll be back on this one in a couple of years.] New rating 4.1: Very woody and mature. Sour, but not too sour. Refreshing.

Drink before 20-5-2019(!) drank on 13-7-2002 I had a difficult time enjoying this sourball, but once I got into it, it was OK, but didn’t taste complex and so far I’ve enjoyed the fruity lambics much more.

giving numbers to an aroma like this is a hard task. "mouldy chicken shed smell" as rauchbier puts it, or homeless people’s underwear, as i prefer to think of it - either way, you’re in for a stinky one. and then the beer itself is so smooth, light, and fruity that it doesn’t scare me at all. not as sour as cantillon or oud beersel etc. like overstewed black tea stirred in with garbage juice. yummy, in short.
