Sledge Jr (2692), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 30, 2008 Sampled at the 2008 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours a cloudy gold with a white head. The aroma is a curious mixture of cardboard and orchids. Perhaps a bit of potted meat product in the aroma as well. Thin body. Mildy acidic throughout and this acid extends all the way through the finish. Not so much battery acid as you cannot drink it though. A drying citrus helps to keep things drinkable.
azlondon (455), Greater London, England Jun 27, 2008 Appearance: Cloudy amber, almost orange. Lots of head.
Aroma: Just like a cider. Lemony, hint of wheat.
Taste: Sour. A bit like cider. Lemony. Yuck!
Info: 375ml bottle, 27/2-2006, 83/300, 51/500 Ober (187), Best, Netherlands Jun 24, 2008 A hazy golden colored beer, with a huge off white head. It disappears very soon. The aroma is malty sour, with tones of oak in the back. Also some citrus. The taste is sour with sweet tones. It has the flavor of oak. The after taste is some dry. The sparkeling stays for a very long time. The combination of tastes like bitter, a little fruity are staying for a while. KnN (190), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jun 23, 2008 Pours a nice golden color with a good fizzy white head. Aroma is a little bit of that sharp wild yeast smell with some good light citrus notes.
Flavor is super dry with some good white fruit notes, grapefruit, and some sharp flavors. Nice and sour as well. This is a good geuze. TheGrandMaster (1386), Auckland, New Zealand Jun 21, 2008 Bottle 2002/03 (in NZ), pours a dark gold, slightly hazed, with white bubbled head. Sour aroma, a little musty, but with a fresh citrus note. Very very dry, dominating the palate. A sweeter fruit on the front of the tongue, but plenty of sour grapefruit as you swallow. Minerally notes in the finish. That dominating dryness makes it difficult to rate this as a top Lambic. taunusmies (217), Finland Jun 18, 2008 Pours hazy yellow/golden colour with a decent head. Fizzy, dry mouthfeel. Taste is dry, crisp and sour, has notes of citrus fruits, apples, vinegar and grapefruits. Has some slight sweetness. Finish is lemony bitter. Interesting beer.
