COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Annata 2010-2011, buonissima con una schiuma bella compatta e fine, l’acidità non è mai troppo invadente

2012/2013 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a finger of foam. Lemon zest, wood, musty basement and citric acid all dominate the nose. Some light woodiness on the palate with more lemon and gooseberry flavors. Active carbonation with a slightly creamy finish. More tart than expected on the palate as well. Dry finish. Very tasty and for the price really unbeatable.

pours into an amber yellow with a crisp white head.lets cut the shit and get down to brass tacks, the smell was a dry vinegar at first, after having a beer already tonight that had that signature i thought this would be too much however the smell broke off into a hay aroma almost familiar to any that have owned horses. the flavor changes and remains on the vinegar almost rolling off the tongue into sweet salvation. this beer was really enjoyable.

Appearance: hazy deep gold with two fluffy and growing fingers of light ivory head, moderate retention and patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: lemon zest, barnyard funk, green apple, vinous white grape, light woody. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate tart, light funk. (7/10) Medium-light body, lively champagne-like carbonation, dry crisp lightly funky finish. (4/5) Not quite as good as I was hoping for, if I’m honest. All the elements are there for a classic Gueuze, but all seem to come up just a little short, especially by comparison to e.g. Cantillon. The appearance, tartness, and funk are all in the ballpark for the style, but it just doesn’t pop the way some others do. Even their own Marriage Parfait, for example, is a much better example of the style. I know this is brewed in Lembeek (the home and namesake of “lambic,”) and I suppose it’s possible that this is actually more representative of the traditional style (“à l’ancienne”), which means that I’m just an unwashed heathen, but this just seems to fall a little short. Good, verging on great, and damned with faint praise. (14/20)

Sour on the nose with tart fruit in the background and a little sweetness. Cloudy dark amber with some sediment and a quick white foam. Tart on the tongue with sweetness and a little woodiness and a dry finish. Medium body with low fizz. The mustiness is muted and the taste overall is on the mild side for a geuze.

2010-2011 bottle. This bottle had quite a bit of movement before it was opened so some of the yeast was kicked up before it was poured. Pours a heavy orangish red color. Nose is barnyard, Apple juice, peach. Medium sweetness. Juicy finish. I think after drinking this with the dregs I like it this way it adds a huge fruit character and it takes away from the dry finish I normally have from this gueuze.
