Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Annata 2010-2011, buonissima con una schiuma bella compatta e fine, l’acidità non è mai troppo invadente

I definitevely have some issues with too acid lambics. The aroma is fruity but not too much. Gold color and perseverant head. But the taste and palate is difficult to describe because the strong acidity. Lambic is definitively not my type.

Stinky smell, but enticing. Taste is muted compared to scent, but the balance is perfect. Palate is slightly metallic. This beer is amazing and complex. Had at Harrild & Sons, with Sam who didn't like it, for Eleana's leaving drinks.

Hazy and orange, small beige head. Sour oranges on the nose. Very sour. Lots of orange peel in the flavor which gives this a nice sweetness. Grape fruits and soap. Medium bodied and refreshing. Nice.

Vintage 2012/2013. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is funky bretts, barnyard/Ziger, apples, grapes, a little bit metallic. Taste is more apples and grapesy lemons, hints of cheese. Dry finish. Too aggressive carbonation, as often with Boon, but it settles down after a few minutes. A classic Oude Gueuze, and relatively cheap and easy to get. I like to buy this from the shelf when I don?t have an occasion to get something from the cellar. It doesn?t even lack complexity and is stil easily drinkable.

375ml bottle, thanks Ben for the gift. 2012-2013 blend. Aroma: over ripe apples, floral. App: hazy golden, small white head. Taste and palate: thin body, fizzy, vinous, dry fruity and sour finish. Overall: awesome! Really enjoyed the palate! This is my type of beer these days. Fruity enough, not too sour, great fizzyness. Guess I’ll need to get my hands of more of this goodness.
