COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 First rating thursday, july 21, 2005: 3/3/4/2/10. A very sour beer, smells awful (sences of yeas and vinegar) but tastes a little bit better than it smells, it even tastes a bit like bad wine. However even the more commercial belle-vue gueuze is better (bottle corked 37,5cl brewing season 2002-2003) Had to re-rate this one, I’m much more into geuzes now than I was back then. Well it’s a typical geuze coloured beer with a nice white head. Soft acidic aroma. Nice slightly sour and wine like flavour. Can’t remember why I disliked it before, really enjoyed this one. (corked bottle 75 cl, brewing season 2006-2007)

Bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; orange with some lacing. Smells pretty good too; sour and barnyard. Tastes pretty mild with an average mouthfeel. Nothing special here.

BBE 2029, 2009 vintage(?) - Pours murky orange with a large foamy head. Aroma of currants, berries, ripe fruits. Taste is slightly malty with currants, earthy notes, tart fruits. Slight, easy sourness. Finish of tart berries. Okay.

Dark golden pour with a large white head. Dry aroma indicitive of the tartness to come. Flavor is dusty, dry, and tart. Lively. The oak comes through a bit too. I didn’t find this to be too complex at all, but rather a solid offering in the style.

2007-2008, ABV 7%. 37.5cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Pours a hazy amber with a billowing white head; the aroma has some champagne breadiness and yeast as well as some sour apples; the taste is of crisp apples and sour cherries, with a light carbonation; then a sweeter, but dry, apple finish. Very pleasant.

375 ml bottle into tulip, best by 9/16/2030. Pours slightly hazy golden straw color with a fluffy 2 finger white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing on the glass, with a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big tart apple, cherry, lemon, hay, grass, pepper, oak, light vinegar, funk, and yeast spices. Very nice and balanced aromas, with great complexity. Taste of tart apple, cherry, lemon, grass, hay, pepper, slight vinegar, and yeast spices. Fairly tart and spicy on the finish; with lingering notes of apple, lemon, cherry, pepper, grass, and spices on the finish for a bit. Great balance of flavors with acidity. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly crisp and acidic mouthfeel as expected. No alcohol presence noticed at all. Overall this is a great gueuze. Very nice flavor complexity and balance.
