Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Bottle my local major Supermarket decided to clear out at 25% off....bonus. I guess there aren’t enough sour beer drinkers in this part of town. Date on label 06.08.2027. Lovely golden color, acidic aroma. Effervescent and tart, leading into sour. Very tasty and one of the easier drinking geuzes I’ve tried. The tartness dulls a bit as my mouth gets used to it, but retains enough pucker to keep it enjoyable. Wishing I would have picked up quite a few more at clear-out prices. Serving type: bottle

Cool little capped 25cl bottle from Cave a Bieres in Toulouse. Had this plenty of other times, but this is my first rate. Pours a very murky gold with some fluffy, white head. Nose has quite a bit of fruit, apricots and kiwis, grapefruit rind, some funk, medicine cabinet mostly, a little candy sugar, mild pepper, a little yeast. Flavor is fairly well balanced for a gueze. Easy to see why this is a base beer for so many blenders. Lightly sweet, a little candy, some grapefruit rind, some tropical fruit, a little cheesy, some straw, some band aid. Lightly funky finish.

Drunk in the park with cam and rach at sundown. it was still boiling hot so this was a nice choice. pours the colour of catpiss and smells a bit similar with a light foamy head. tastes tart, oaky, dry as fuck. fizzy but smooth. it was a bit sweeter and more mellow than others ive had tho. which was ok for a night where i just wanted an easy going drink

With its unforgettable aroma and the unique ’wild’ yeasty sourness of very, very fine gueuze this is an absolutely outstanding beer. All hail to Frank Boon! This is really better than the best wine. And of course, the label is great in its simplicity, too.

Pours amber with a lightly packed head. Nose shows horse blanket, apple, earthy Brett and elderflower. Moderately acidic flavours, more earthy Brett, apple, pear and elderflower. Quite herbal. Very smashable. Carbonation is a bit over the top.

I loved this. Pours effervescent yellow. Aromas are fruity and candy followed by tart lemon and white wine. Flavors are lemon, white wine and a nice strawberry like sweetness to round things out. Delicious!

Annata 2010-2011, buonissima con una schiuma bella compatta e fine, l’acidità non è mai troppo invadente

2009-2010. S: Some pepper, some notes of tropical fruit. A: White foam that dissipates quickly to a ring around the rim. Hazy orange-brown color. T: Loads of grapefruit. Some funky backnotes, sourness that makes your cheeks want to come together. Not very complex. O: A solid gueuze, though I prefer it a bit fresher.
