Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Bottle of 37.5cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. Great golden cider colour, with a very white head. An aroma of oud geuze, with the wonderful taste of it (for newbies : it’s like cider in a more sour way). Great

Tasted at home and a week later in a pub. Aroma mostly of yeast. Nicely sour. Smooth. And quite cheap. Definitely go-to lambic.

My second geuze ever. First one was a young one and this one is definitely way smoother. I still have to get used to the sourness though. It’s nothing I’m used to. It’s nice though.

Oude geuze boon l’ancienne 2011 2012. Dark Green Bottle, Tollcross, Edinburgh CIty. Pours medium amber with a thin, white head. Scent is fantastic with yeast and grape notes. Taste is a fair mix of sour and yeast - complex and excellent. A great beer.

Aroma is fruit, malts and a small hint of vanilla. The flavor is lemons, fruit, tropical fruit, malts and a mix of tart and medium sweetness in the finish.

375 mL bottle (2012-2013) at home. Hazy apricot colouring with a crisp white head that vanishes quickly. Pleasant aroma of apples and hints of yeast. Light taste of sour apples and acidity, with some oak. Very refreshing.

375 ml. bottle from 2011-2012 season, poured in to a Flute. Hazy, golden colour with an amber tint. Big, fluffy white head that fades to a fat cap. Tart aroma with lemons, apples, light barnyard and leather. Taste is sour. Medium body with a slick texture and a fine, lively carbonation. Finishes dry and tart with lemon and barnyard aromas. Nice, easy drinking Geuze without to much complexity. Refreshing.

38cl. bottle (375ml.). The Oude Geuze Boon is my defintion of a "gueuze" beer. Orange or golden, light brown or even peachy color, with a small head. The foam fades away, making place for a beautiful scent of oranges, lemon. A perfect dry and sour taste. An easy drinker.
