COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Remarkable how low the aggregate score is here--3.5. I admit this isn’t my top gueuze, but that’s awfully low! Notes: extremely carbonated (as noted), with a massive, fluffy head and curious bead. My partner could smell the sourness at three feet (a lambic barometer?). Palate is sweet on the front, with notes of wheat and salt. Not my favorite gueuze, but I’d take it over 99% of beers.

This bottle allowed me to find out the reason why the metal caps are on top of the corks - when I was half way through untwisting it the cork exploded out and across the room. Pours a cloudy opaque orange with a fizzy white head, good retention and good lacing. Aroma of apple, oak and dust. A little vanilla and white wine works its way through. Taste of apples, pears and light acidity. Sour lemon flavour and orange peel bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation. First sour I’ve had, cool.

Aroma a levadura, madera y frutas. Sabor ácido y ligeramente amargo, es afrutado y un final seco, con nota a madera. Es una cerveza gueze muy buena, perfecta, refrescante, deliciosa y excepcional.

This is a great example of how surprised you can be, when you never had this before, you pour that bad boy up, and the smell is so sweet and floral, and then you taste it, and there is just a world of difference. A good sour and slightly bitter geuze with a sourness like you ate a raw lemon 20 minutes ago.

You can’t miss the champagne feel to this beer. Well, champagne that was produced in the middle of a haystack: the aroma is super earthy and the taste is sour and dry. Lambics are a peculiar style but this is one of the most solid examples out there.

75cl bottle. This is my first real lambic. Golden colour, medium white head. Sourish aroma of champagne. Taste is sour, with red berries and lemon, some dryness. A beer that smells and tastes like champagne. Interesting.

Vintage 2011-2012. Almost champagne like pour. Pale yellow with a fizzy, frothy lasting white head. Complex yeasty aroma. Moderate sweet and sour aroma. Woody. Fruity. Flavor follows Bigger Light, lively body. Semi dry, woody, basement finish. Light acidic. Not as sweet as the aromatic nose lets on. Characterful and approachable.
