COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Geuze Boon is one of the finest examples of the traditional 100% spontaneous fermentation Lambic style. To moderate the sourness, Boon Brewery only brews Lambic in the 7 cold months, from early October until April, according to the traditional "turbid mash" system. This Lambic beer is aged for 1, 2 or 3 years in oak casks. The blend, a mild average 18 months old Lambic (unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised) is refermented in the bottle and can be stored up to 20 years. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Awards at the World Beer Championships: 2008 Gold, 2010 Silver, 2012 Gold Medal.

Bottle. 2003-2004 vintage. Slightly hazy golden color with a big sparkling head. The aroma is mildly funky with lots of grass, lemon and grapefruit to it. A mild acidic note as well. The flavor is medium sweet and tart with some funky brett, grass and plenty of citric notes - tart lemon, sweet lemon and slightly bitter grapefruit. Hints of wood and mud. The finish has a mineral note to it as well as some malts and grass. Moderate body, lacks dryness. The mouthfeel is quite a downer. This is a decent gueuze. Easy to drink yet decently characterful.

Bien acidulé sans être trop intense. Goût de pommes vertes et de grains maltés. Bien équilibrée et saveurs bien dosées. Geuze typique qui plaira à bien des palais

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2015 Uitgeschonken in Cantillon degusteer glas.

250ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£1.79):
This one was a really excellent gueuze style lambic, it had tonnes of flavour and sourness but held a good balance and proved an easy one to drink. I’m kicking myself for only buying a 250ml bottle when larger ones were available but I guess that just means I’ll need to pick this one up again at some point.

Tasty light sour beer almost saison like at the dove in London. Recommended by the bartender. Malty sweet goes to sour very nicely

Aroma: sour, acidic, citrus fruits. Appearance: slightly hazy gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: medium to heavy sour. Palate: sours even intensify, dry, acidic, bitters coming up, some wood, lively carbonation. Overall: nice Gueuze, however, as always, they are too sour for my taste. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn.

375ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a large white head, which fades down quickly to a small remnant. Sour cherry, leather, oak and riesling make up the aroma. Strong sourness up front softens slightly leading into oak and leather in the mid-palate. Riesling and brisk tartness come into the finish. A nice and refreshingly sour gueuze.

Bottle split two ways. Light hazy bronze pour with a tiny head. Loads of funk, apple skin, some lemon juice, grains and some vanilla sweetness. Good stuff!
