Aha! Here’s the sourness I was missing with the plain boon kriek. A big improvement - same intesity of flavour, but less like a cordial. Goes down a treat and leaves the tastebuds thirsty for more.

(375 ml bottle from Swedish Systembolaget) 2000 vintage. Shady red-brown color, pinkish head. Fresh acid scent with some cherry. Light sour taste. No bitterness.

Bottled (2003 vintage) - ’t Brugs Beertje - Brugge. A dark red coloured lambic with a thick pinky coloured head. The aroma is tart and acidic with cherry fruits. Sour and welcoming nose. The taste is on the sour acidic side but is also fairly light and fruity. Not as deep tasting as some lambics but still mouth puckeringly nice. Very tasty but seems to miss some tricks.

Bottle at Brugs Beertje. Shared with maeib. Deep red with very pinkish head. Sour farmyard aroma, quite a lot of farmyard in fact and then cherry. Bit tart, sharper than the regular kriek. Really drys the roof of the mouth. Cherry is pretty good, sweetish on end. Bit too acidic for me. Very parching. Fruit is great on end though.

12 oz Bottle. Pinkish reddish brown color with a pink head. Nice nose of sour cherry underneath some barnyard and must. Similar flavor, just seemed to be lacking. The cherry was integrated fairly well, added a touch of sweetness. Lower on the acidity scale. Not bad

Bottle. Pours a murky red-brown body with a small creamy white head. Jammy raspberry and cherries in the aroma along with some mineral funk and oak. A little too sticky sweet for my tastes when it comes to this style...certainly there was a tart constituent but it didn’t really step up to the table. A rather good dose of earthy, oaked flavours though.

28.04.06 Bottle dated 05.10.202(5)?, the last number was hard to make out. Hazy cranberry color with a fluffy pink head that lasts. Aroma is pure funk, more funk, some brisk cherries with stems and pits, and more cheesy funk. The stuff is full of wood, barnyard, and acetic flavors, with an afterthought of dry/tart cherry, and then majorly drying astringency. Whew, this stuff is fun, but not for a whole glass.
