On tap. Pours hazy dark redish with a fluffy pink head. The aroma is dominated by sweet and sour cherries along with some tartness, barnyardy notes, oak, vinegar, weak stable, unripe strawberries and some weak brett. Taste is weak vitamins/minerals, sour vherries, woody notes, barnyard, unripe strawberries, some weak lacto acidic notes, cherry jam, raspberries and tartness. Actually quite creamy in the mouthfeel.

on tap: pours deep hazy red, with a huge longlastin fluffy pink head, Aroma: tart cherries, cherry jam, very fruity, milky, almonds, some funkyness, woody, light brett, faint barnyard, white grape skins, light peppery, weak gun powder, hay, clover, light farty, Taste: light minerally, vitamins, very fruity a mixture of sweet and tart cherries, light dusty, light fruity bitterness, red berries, jam, marzipan, red and sour apples, fruity sweetness, raspberries, some acidity but overall very balanced and quite sophisticated.

2008 Vintage 37.5 cl. bottle sampled @ De Groote Witte Arend: – A: dark red with a pink head – S: sour cellar with lemon zest with a sweet cherry jam touch – T: mild slightly watery sour lemon zest, barnyard cellar with an emphasis on the zest lambic upfront which followed by a great big gap of nothing the flavour and finished off by sweet cherry jam mixed with vinegar – B: oily, medium & strangely malt-like – not particularly impressive, ok but not much dept or craft, bit too simple with literally a huge gap in the taste

Bouteille de 375 ml, vintage 2007. Arômes très invitants de cerises mures et de brettanomyces. Légères notes boisées et citronnées. Magnifique robe rose foncée, délicate dentelle rose et effervescence moyenne. En bouche, l’emphase est clairement sur les cerises, très fruitées et intenses. Les brettanomyces apportent de délicates notes rustiques, mais demeurent en retrait par rapport aux fruits. Finale bien sèche présentant une acidité lactique d’intensité moyenne. Le caractère du lambic est moins complexe que dans d’autres exemples, mais l’intégration et l’intensité des fruits est vraiment réussie.

Boon Oude Kriek näyttäytyy kauniin viinin punaisena ja muodostaa myös kauniin vaaleanpunaisen vaahdon. Tuoksussa on kirsikkaa, happamuutta ja hieman jotakin maanläheistä. Olut on makea, hapan ja jälleen maanläheinen maultaan. Kirpeä ja hapokas olut. Suutuntuma lässähtää lopputuntumassa aavistuksen vetiseksi. Kokonaisuudessaan oikein hyvä olut.

Bottle at Cambrinus in Bruges. Forgot to look at the age on the bottle. Hazy, reddish-purple pour with a creamy, pink head that lasts. Cherry aroma with a lightly sweaty-sour nose. Sour cherry candy flavor with a definite tart component and a little more of the sweat punching through. Almost lime-ish in its sourness, but not too heavy duty or overbearing. Quite balanced. Light body with a super dry finish. Champagne-like carbonation with a little bit of sweaty-sourness in the finish. Superb beer!
