Oude Kriek Boon is one of the finest examples of the 100% spontaneous fermentation fruit-Lambic style. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a blend of young and old Boon Lambic that has been aged in oak casks. After clarification, the Oude kriek is bottled and refermented. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavourings, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle. Cheers !

It is the best lambic I had drunk. It has a very rich flavor and its’s not too sour. In my opinion the taste of this beer is like a taste of a great red wine.

Pours a cloudy deep red body with a pink head that ends up as a fully covering film. Strong aroma of lots and lots of cherries upon a funky barnyard background. Strong flavour that is of course dominated by cherries, but there are also some raspberries in the back, together with a generic fruitiness. The funk is not overwhelming, but is instead a nice companion to the fruit. Light sweet taste, moderate to light acidity. Pretty long-lasting finish. Medium body, dry and with a rather lively carbonation. Nice!

37.5cl bottle at home (13 II 2016), shared with the Meetjeslandse Bierproevers. Red to dark red, gloomy brew with minimal pinkish collar. The nose has lots of tart and wood. The taste is less creamy than I expected - a vanilla, creamy sensation I most often have with Boon lambic fruits. Dry. The sweetness and sourness of the cherries and geuze makes for a perfect combination, resulting in a very tasteful, very sour oak casked kriek. Lovely!
