Oude Kriek Boon is one of the finest examples of the 100% spontaneous fermentation fruit-Lambic style. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a blend of young and old Boon Lambic that has been aged in oak casks. After clarification, the Oude kriek is bottled and refermented. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavourings, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle. Cheers !

Bottle. Dark red with sediment. Dark sour cherries, funk, barnyard in the aroma. Body is lightish. Dark cherries, funk and malts. Cleansing acidity, but not that sour. A bit of woody notes. Nice darker old kriek.

Shared bottle with florya. Clear red lambic with significant cherry aroma and taste. It is a bit sour, a bit sweet, complex beer.

Keg at Brewdog Manchester. A clear red colour with a thin off white head. Aroma of tart cherries, subtle plum, marzipan, slight vanilla and barnyard yeast. Taste of cherry, marzipan, slight apple, barnyard funk, some wood and subtle acidic tartness. Medium bodied and and an oily texture. A dry, cherry tartness in the finish. Great array of flavours and smells, sweet at first then tart and slightly acidic in the close. A tasty kriek, I enjoyed it.

Big wild yeast funky wine aroma. Quite tart with a hint of cherry and maybe vanilla here and there. Big lambic. This is what I think of when I here lambic. Lots of tart fizzy beer lingers with grape and flowery notes. Not bad but not my favorite eithet. The marriage parfait from Boon was better.

0,375 l corked bottle from P&M Getränke, bottled on 22/1/2013 (two and a half years old). Clear, deep red with a huge, frothy, quickly diminishing, pinkish white head. Sourish-fruity and quite funky aroma of sour cherries, bitter almond, red grapes, oak and leather with hints of raspberry and redcurrant. Sourish-fruity taste of sour cherries, red wine, oak, rhubarb and raspberry, followed by a long, tart and vinous finish. Thin to medium body, very spritzy and quite astringent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Delicious kriek, really not sweet but very vinous with a solid lambic character. Quite complex and highly refreshing. I love it!

Bottle shared at home. Cork hit the ceiling, dangerous stuff! Deep ruby with very big dark pink head. Hay, dead leaves and earthy up front followed by fresh cherries, some funk and old, almost moldy bread. Light sour taste with a soft long lasting bitterness. Medium bodies with sparkly carbonation. Not really complex but very drinkable kriek.

37.5cl bottle. Deep reddish purple colour with a generous pink head. Cherries, pear, tart and some barnyard in the aroma. Average fizzy carbonation and medium body. Taste is sweet at start going to more tart, acid notes and finishing quite dry and bitter. Overall, a very good kriek.

Bottle, can’t remember where from. Belgium, probably. Deep, rich and yet slightly murky pinky red with a bright pink foam. Was a 2012 vintage so not drunk that young, I thought cherry flavours not as vibrant and fresh as some other krieks, not very tart actually, but very deep complex lambic sourness, earthy. Interesting, complex, quenching, just perhaps not my favourite kriek.
