4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 ToolHead (241) - København, DENMARK - MAY 26, 2004
1998 vintage (opened 25.5.2004; best by: 5.4.2022).
37,5 cl corked bottle; served in Girardin glass.
Orangeish red, nice head. The aroma is cherryish, and delicately sour; the taste is extremely dry and sour, tart but still well-balanced with pleasant cherry presence; the mouthfeel is luxurious, fluffy and prickly; extremely long, characteristically sour finish; very good drinkability. A wonderful aperitif.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Belgo (154) - Køge, DENMARK - MAR 2, 2006
375 ml. bottle. Pours a dark cherry red with a nice lasting pink head. Aromas of sweet cherries explode from the glass along with almonds and brett aromas from the lambic. On the palate the sourness is definately there, but there is also a nice sweetness from the fruity taste, not from residual sugar. Finishes of dry and well balanced with a nice soft cherry flavour before it ends with a snap of sourness. Very good.

Bottle at Oud Arsenaal, 2003 vintage, march 07. Spicy, winey, mustard, cherries aroma. Sour, but mild flavor. Vinegary with a touch of honey and some fresh fruit acidity with a salty ending. Medium to light MF with a flavor packed palate. Begins sour, follows fruity and ends with a salty refreshing feeling. Extremely refreshing. Appareance is a rich, deep, red color with a long lasting rosé head. A very weel crafted, complex, sipping sour-cherry beer.

37.5 cl bottle. Orangey red colour, pinkish, stable head. Highly complex lambiek nose with cheese notes as well as cherries. Sour cherries, some yoghurt, lemony lambiek as well as cheese before a moderately dry finish. Fizzy. A very complex and enjoyable kriek- miles ahead of the other, commercialised Boon Kriek.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2008 My mouth starting watering the moment I opened the box when I got this from puzzl in a trade. Beautiful black cheery colored pour with a big foamy pink head, even when gently poured. Some chunks of bottom yeast sit on top of the foam. Good attractive sour lambic aroma dotted with cherry fragrance. The palate is tingly and sour. Not very much sweetness, if at all. Normally I like sweetness in a fruit lambic but I’m not missing anything in this one. Each sip is a sour sensation of hair raising proportions. Delightful and refreshing, fun and dee-lish. Some hints of wet woolen horse blanket permeates the taste buds. This beer rocks! Quite invigorating. Has teeny bit of lingering bitterness in the finish but not too noticeable. Andy, I owe you for this one!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 BartC (528) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - MAY 1, 2008
Small head pink head. Strong cherry aroma and some grenadine in the background. Very fruity flavor with the nice tartness one can expect from a good Oude Kriek. Green apples, citrus on top of the cherry flavors. Some woody notes.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 kuphish (351) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - NOV 7, 2011
Bottle at Cambrinus in Bruges. Forgot to look at the age on the bottle. Hazy, reddish-purple pour with a creamy, pink head that lasts. Cherry aroma with a lightly sweaty-sour nose. Sour cherry candy flavor with a definite tart component and a little more of the sweat punching through. Almost lime-ish in its sourness, but not too heavy duty or overbearing. Quite balanced. Light body with a super dry finish. Champagne-like carbonation with a little bit of sweaty-sourness in the finish. Superb beer!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 DarkMagus (433) - San Jose, California, USA - JUL 6, 2007
Bright cherry-red color with a thin but somewhat sticky pink ring of foam on the surface. Funky, sour, mouthwatering cherry candy aroma with a hint of acetic acid, sour citrus fruits, and a bit of grainyness. Super sharp, sour flavors with a lot of woody mustiness, sour cherries, Fizzy, soft, champagne-like mouthfeel with a dry and slightly astringent finish. Great stuff, super easy to drink... very addictive!
