Oude Kriek Boon is one of the finest examples of the 100% spontaneous fermentation fruit-Lambic style. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a blend of young and old Boon Lambic that has been aged in oak casks. After clarification, the Oude kriek is bottled and refermented. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavourings, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle. Cheers !

Pours a nice cherry red with a half-inch slow diffusing bubbly head. Aroma of sour cherries, alfalfa, and some oak. Lively carbonation and tart flavors on the palate. Slightly astringent in the finish. Sour cherries, unripe persimmons. Excellent!

From el Cervecero. In Adnams Southwold cup. After dinner. At least I’ve been able to finish this acidic beverage, not like the Cantillon gueuze.

375 ml bottle, Natural cork cap, champagne style. 2014 vintage. This is my very first encounter with the lambic style beers. Oak aged cherries, spontanously fermented by wild yeast is what we’re dealing with here, so let’s dive in. Beautiful dark cherry colour, thin head that dissapears immediately. Aroma is a viny, cherry style. Taste is all about cherries, Carbonation is low, mouthfeel is dry. The Cherry-ish aftertaste is lasting on and on forever. Wow, what an experience!! More cherry liquor than beer in my opinion, but I’m very pleased right now.

Hazy burgundy color with pink head. Aroma is extremely cherry forward with a bit of underlying farmhouse funk. Taste starts directly sour, fruity and also a bit bitter. Body is quite light, very effervescent and dry. Very fresh and easy drinking.

Way too acid first. But acidity decrease after a few minutes in the glass, Leave a thick feeling on the palate. But great ruby color.

Vond dit allesbehalve een verrijkend bier. De Kriek proefde echt heel plakkerig in de mond, kriek hoort dorstlessend te zijn maar ik kreeg hier enkel dorst van.

Bottle, vintage 2014. Pours dark ruby red, with a creamy pink head receding to a thin layer. Aroma is tart fruit peel and berries, quite sharp lactic acid and some farmyard funkiness, as well as bretty wood and cork. Medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is acidic, with tart fruity notes of cherries, fruit peel and berries, as well as bretty notes of musty dark wood and tannins.Tart semi dry finish.
