Dark red pour with a pink head. Nice rich cherry aroma with plenty of fruit and cherry skin notes. Some nice lactic tartness, a bit of grass, a mild musty funk, and some red fruits. A huge cherry character on the palate. Nice tartness, lemon zest, and musty funk. Great cherry skin, slight sweetness, with a dry finish.

Be prepared when you pour, because this baby has a beautiful head, which unfortunately is gone within seconds. It is funny how the smell reminds me of christmas eve, but the taste is so fresh and reminds me of summer. Behind the wonderful cherry taste there is a champagne-like feeling going on. It is very beautiful and I can recommend! It is very light-bodied and even the fizziness is not over the top.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
375ml bottle poured in a Kriek Tulip glass.
First of all, beautiful bottle art. Small corked green bottle with a violet label. This one concerns the 2006 harvest with the "best before" marked as "21/01/2030".
A: Pours a dark red cherry color forming a huge bubbled rose head. Low retention and some chunks of bubbled lacings left in the glass walls
S: Very Belgian Lambic in the nose. I mean, very fruity. Cherry juice. Tart. Lambic yeasts. Mild sweet malts in the end
T: Follows the nose. Very fruity. Cherry juice. Absolutely deliciously smooth in the mouth. Upfront is mild sweet, in overall a watery, smoothly tart and dry beer. Good stuff
M: Light body. Medium carbonation. Sweet upfront, watery mouth sensation. Tart cherry aftertaste
O: Very drinkable. Absolutely great Kriek beer!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012 Vintage 375mL corked Champagne bottle
Looks great! Dense, creamy pink head holds atop a lively deep scarlet body - decent clarity to it.
Aroma exudes funk - Parmesan/hard cheese, barnyard, hay, bruised pineapple & green apple, some toasty barrel notes, and, not to be overshadowed, sour cherry, stones & all.
Palate is bone dry, lean, lively, acidity is lifted without being overbearing or brutal - well controlled you might say - has a nice creaminess to it, providing weight to an otherwise thin beer.
Cherries come through more pronounced on the palate; slightly sweet, even just for a mere moment. It continues with more funk - old cream, vanilla oak, red wine vinegar, touch of raspberry in there, lightly toasted oak. Finishes a touch short, but refreshing.
Very nice, not overly fruity or acidic, good hit of funk for interest.

Exquisite beer, one of the very best Krieken. The flavor of the fresh local cherries, the famous sour Schaarbeekse Krieken, shines through, making for an unmistakable, delicious aroma and unbeatable palate. And with its slightly higher than usual alcohol content, for a fruit beer, that is, it carries an unexpected kick. Fabulous beer. An of course, the label is in the Boon house-style, matter of fact, no frills, very nice.

"more tart and sour than sweet from the fruit. thereís some cherry in both the aroma and taste, but itís in the background. this is a funky lambic dominated brew. i generally prefer the dark krieks and flemish reds, where the sour vinegar aspects donít dominate the fruit so much. that being said, the lambic quality of this beer is done very very well. it has a nice lasting dry sour finish as well, maybe some oak in there too. just missing a little something extra to be a great beer."

2008 bottle from World Liquor Nakai in Misawa, Japan. Poured dark reddish purple. Virtually no head. Moderate cherry aroma. Flavor is cherrylicious. Sour mostly with slight sweetness. Shocked to find this in Japan. I certainly will buy again.

Itís an enchanting looking beer this one. While there is some haze, it is juicy magenta in colour with a pink head. Aromas of typical sour kriek with dry, sour Montmorency cherries abounding. The flavour is much the same. Crisp, tart and dry. A real palate cleanser.

330 ml bottle. Clear dark red with pink head. Smell is fresh unripe fruit, stables, hay, funky grass. Taste is sour vinous with sweet unripe berries and cherries. Funky stables finish. Low bitterness and high carbonation.
