3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. A red beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of fruits, red berries, roasted malt, and caramel. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, fruits, and red berries, leading to a dry roasted finish.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a clear dark orangey brown with a dense beige head. Subtle roasty nose. Rich body, subtle roast and dark dried fruits, yeast and friendly phenols - appears almost as if a Belgian yeast was used. Somewhat biscuity. A little odd and not entirely clear.. 190412

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours very dark brown with almost no head - just a few lightly tanned bubbles. Nose is heavily roasted malts and dry biscuit. Bitter sweet tone there as well. As it warms a nice chocolate tone comes out. Unfortunately its all down hill from here. Bitter sweet chocolate and roasted malts make up the taste. Over carbonated which cuts off any finish this could have. Not my cup of tea

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 12C. Dark reddish brown with a large beige head that fades but returns with a swirl. Aroma of toast, prunes, cocoa. Taste is really quite chocolatey, but not all that sweet. Thereís modest roasted bitterness at the end as well as some grass. Alcohol is very well hidden - so much so that the texture seems a bit too light. Straightforward and a rather overcarbonated, but not bad at all.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 330ml bottle on 8/7/2010. Has masses of chocolate, a bit of coffee and some cherry in the aroma. In the mouth, itís very sweet, with chocolate and caramel dominating. There is a moderate bitter finish which balances its distinctly dessert like character. This is a fabulous drop if, like me, you like big dollops of sweetness.

330ml bottle. Black as night with a thick tan head that settles quickly. Warming aromas of melted dark chocolate with an espresso hit. Smooth and silky on the palate with a strong roast malt flavour. Sweet with a long finish.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark brown with a large persistent white head.
Aroma of espresso, some roasted barley, but really quite faint. Some crystal as well. Thereís also a rubbery smell, like the sole of a shoe, not sure whatís going on there?
Similar flavours, with light roasted barley, nutty notes, quite prominent sweet caramel and unfortunately, some cidery taste.
Too much carbonation for this type of beer.
Not sure what happened here, needs more roasted grain for starters.
