A: The pour is a dark amber color with a fair amount of haze and plenty of creamy tan head. S: A rather complex and interesting nose. Lots of barrel notes of vanilla, chocolate, booze, and maple. The acidity is moderate and the cherry aroma is subtle. T: Lots of sweet maple and vanilla flavor up front with some underlying chocolate and bourbon? character. The sourness doesn’t really come into play until the finish where it is bracingly sour and heavy on the cherries. M: The body is medium with a rather robust level of smooth creamy carbonation. D: This was a different kind of sour beer. More subtle and sweet, perhaps a bit like an oud bruin, with a big sour kick on the finish. Quite good.
