3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (6459) - Los Angeles, USA - JUN 12, 2010
On tap at the Brewery. Looking forward to the barrel aged versions. Pours with a hazed amber body and a huge tan ehad. Aroma is very hoppy, citrusy with some belgian yeast. Taste is belgian yeast, bitter, husky and burn flan. Reminds me a decent amount of the hop profile of Boulevard’s Harvest Dance. Lively Bubbles. Well done.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Barreras (408) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - MAY 30, 2011
Pours a copper color with a heavy floral aroma. Taste is bitter hoppiness that can be tasted throughout. A clean tasting beer but a little too bitter for my taste buds.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 LtDan (1484) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - AUG 15, 2010
Appearance: Pours a dark vibrant ruby with a white rim of head.
Aroma: Cherry, sweet malt. Not sure if my nose was a tad jammed up, but I was reaching for aroma, and couldn’t get much more than "sweetness.".
Taste: Fruit cocktail, toffee spicy Belgian yeast with a slight but noticeable hop spice finish..
Mouthfeel: Full, sticky, fizzy..
Overall: Real good.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Blake (396) - Orange, California, USA - AUG 4, 2010
Had on tap at Bootleggers Brewery. Reddish clear color with slight tan head. Aroma is dominated by alcohol and malts. The 7.7% isn’t hidden well here at all. Flavor was strong alcohol with a bit of yeast and some spices. Maybe needs more time to mature, but not a fan at this stage.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 AmEricanbrew (4123) - roam, Louisiana, USA - JUN 14, 2010
Hazy copper color/ tan head. Spicy belgian yeast, brown sugar, grainy brown malt aromas. medium bodied with mild co2. Very nice floral hop flavors with multi grain bread, molasses, mild sweet spices. B- aged version coming soon? can’t wait to try that one.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 womencantsail (3927) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - MAY 13, 2010
A: A very murky, muddy light brown color with a very minimal tan head.
S: The hops really stand out wonderfully on the nose. A lot of grapefruit, miscellaneous citrus, pine, fruit, and earthy hop notes. There’s a nice bit of bread behind it as well.
T: Though not as intense as in the nose, the hops really carry the flavor of the beer. The citrus and pine hops give the beer a great bitterness which sort of dominate the malts and sweetness that you would normally expect from a barleywine.
M: The body is perhaps on the thin side for a barleywine and the minimal carbonation gives it a slick feel on the tongue.
D: A pretty nice beer from Bootlegger’s, though I think I preferred the 76 a bit more. This one might be a bit better with some more carbonation.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JohnC (2910) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - APR 24, 2010
I had this on tap at Bootlegger’s Second Anniversary party. Although the hop flavor was present it seemed like it needed some more time in the tank Earlier Rating: 4/24/2010 Total Score: 1.9 I had this on tap at Bootlegger’s Second Anniversary party. This seemed young, like it was still fermenting. It smelled like grain just after a brew session...
