DYCSoccer17 (1996), Davis, California, USA Mar 8, 2005 On tap. Cocoa aroma with roasted notes. Not bad. Moderately opaque dark brown color with a tan head. Extremely thin and watery! Sad thing is, is that this has some good stout characterisitics. Nice chocolate with slightly bitter roastiness present. This is amazingly watery and thin. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Feb 8, 2003 A BEERLOVER'S APOCALYPSE PART 5: NOT FOR THE STOUT-HEARTED
My mind wanders. There is no point in thinking about the beer. I wonder, what brought me on this trip? Why would I waste my time and money going to a "family fun" establishment such as this, unrated at either Ratebeer or BeerAdvocate, that's part of a goddamn $60-a-night chain motel for goshsakes? Why am I doing this on a Saturday afternoon, alone and lonely? Cry for me, fellow Ratebeerians! I am sacrificing my tastebuds for your enlightenment, so that none of you need ever go so much as a mile out of your way to discover for yourself the blandness, the sheer lack of flavor, the dull lemminglike people who inhabit places such as this because there probably is (gasp) no better place to drink in this town! I grow weary and drunk now, drinking a far, far better brew for my country; must finish this saga for the safety of my beerloving kind.
Looked decent at first, coal-black with a good head; but the head filled most of the glass so I gotta drop it a point. Could've complained to the waitress I s'pose, but she was trying and after one sip I sure didn't want more! Flat, sour/vinegary, very thin for the type, little sweetness, just plain bad..why bother with more details? It pains me more to remember it than it tickles you to read about it. Certainly among the very worst stouts I've had.
