I had this on tap at Bootlegger’s Second Anniversary party. It was very very boozy and I wound up pouring it out.

Draft at Churchills. Cloudy golden pour with an off white head. Lots of apple sauce in this, bourbon, butterscotch, and oak bourbon character. Not my favorite.

Appearance: Pours a deep copper with no head.
Aroma: Bourbon, and you could probably smell it from 3 feet away.
Taste: Strong bourbon, finishes fruity.
Mouthfeel: Sticky.
Overall: The humongous bourbon presence over powers the beer underneath it. Pretty tasty.

Tap @ Stone Oakquinox. Pours a flat honey brown color with zero head and very light carbonation. At first sniff I thought this to be a honey mead blend, tons of diacytal, honey, and butterscotch aromas, some booze in the as well. Flavor was honey sweet.

A: The pour is a slightly hazed light brown/dark amber color with a thin ring of white foam.
S: The nose has very intense bourbon aromas which are almost hot. The bourbon and the barrel, however, have provided some very nice vanilla, caramel, oak, and char notes. The base beer is almost completely masked, though.
T: For as much bourbon as the nose exhibits, the flavor is extremely well balanced. The base beer really comes through and provides some nice fruity notes of pear and apple. The bourbon barrel gives the vanilla and oak notes and provides a bit of warmth.
M: The body is medium to full with a low to moderate level of carbonation.
D: I was expecting this to be a booze bomb from the nose, but the flavor is surprisingly well balanced. I’m not the hugest fan of Golden Chaos, but the barrels have done some good work on this one.

On tap at the tasting room. Pours a dirty brown color with thin head. Smell of bourbon, alcohol, and sugar. Tastes like bourbon with a bit of the Golden Chaos coming through. Overall it was a tasty barrel aged brew.
