Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a thin beige ring of foam atop. Aroma: Big smokey whiff and vanilla. Taste: Smokey meat, chipotle, dark chocolate, roast. Finishes with a nice amount of chipotle, and needed much more time in the barrel. Mouthfeel: Full bodied and rough. Overall: Pretty frickin sweet, due to it’s short stay in the barrel, I didn’t get much bourbon or wood, this beer will rock even more one day for sure.

16 Sept 2011, on tap at brewery. black, looks thin. lots of oak, wet wood, some vanilla, burnt coffee, some sweet dark chocolate. med/thin body and fizzy. gorgeous! sugary charred vanilla oak. bourbony tang. dark chocolate. a ma zing!

Tap. Pours with a black body and a large, long lasting tan head. Aromas are ashy and roasty, caramel and vanilla. Flavors are hoppy, roasty, ash and some crayon. Light chocolate. Dry and a bit ashy. The bourbon wasn’t very apparent.
