Bomber from bhensonb! Thanks a bunch Bill for all the brews! Nose is mint, chocolate, and a hint of anise. Black with a big long lasting tan head. Flavor is chocolate, mint and quite a bit of anise. Nice tasting brew.

Sample at a weekly bottle sharing event at Red House BBQ in Tehachapi, CA on 02/02/2013. Dark brown pour with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Dark chocolate and mint in the nose. Light to medium body with flavors of fresh mint, chocolate and malt. The finish is chocolatey with a minty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Picked up when I was at Bine & Vine on Adams Ave. The 22oz bomber pours chocolate brownie in color with a mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up some dark fruity esters moving quickly into chocolate and then a modest mix of earthy malts and mint. The taste is similar with mild sweet dark fruity esters rolling quickly into an even mix of dark roasted malts and mint. Pretty nice but it really needs to warm some top open up. Underneath these notes is a thin layer of chocolate that begins to come out as it warms. Nice beer provided it isn’t served and consumed too cold.

22 oz bottle. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates quickly. Chocolate nose and very subtle mint. Flavor is very minty with dark chocolate and coffee. Velvety mouthfeel. Don’t let the strange combination make you stay away from this one, it’s really good.

Type: 22-oz. bomber Glass: Stone pint glass From: Bine and Vine in Kensington (San Diego, Calif.) Price: $5.99 BOD: None Almost complete black with 1-2 fingers of tan head that dissipated had a fast rate. No lacing on the sides. Below average retention on the top. Smelled dark chocolate and bitter coffee beans up front, also toffee and caramel. That gave way to some mint and candy cane in hot chocolate. Reminded me a tad of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. Tasted close to the smell, only a bit mintier. Got that heavy dark chocolate malts (also coffee and hot chocolate), then right to the mint (a lot faster transition than the smell). Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream was the common theme here with the chocolate chips being more dark chocolate than anything else. Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long minty chocolate finish. Not a bad beer, definitely something different. I guess I was expecting a little better, considering my love of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. I’d have it again though.

Bomber from Valley Farm. Black in color. Strong mint aroma on top of roasted coffee. Smooth mouth-feel. Mint and roasted malts up front. The combo almost reminds me of a menthol. Lightly roasted finish. Decent winter sipper.

Pours a deep mahogany brown, almost black, with a two-finger mocha colored head that reduces to a thin film Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts with a touch of bittersweet dark chocolate and a dose of mint. Flavors are similar but relatively muted, with dark chocolate accented with mint and malt highlights. Medium bodied, moderate amount of carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a minty finish. Better than expected.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Luckily after I popped the cap I had my glass near by because the beer started gush out of the bottle and I was able to salvage the majority of the bottle. Poured a dark brown almost black color with a heaping amount of fizzy foamed head which eventually retreated to a ring shape of an O. In the aroma, there is a roasted malt nose with a scent of peppermint or spearmint chewing gum, but there is a background of chocolate and faint whiff of alcohol. The flavor is minty and sweet similar to a stick of Wrigley’s doublemint or spearmint chewing gum with only a minor taste of roast malt. Certainly an interesting recipe that had big flavor but to be honest, not exactly a beer I wanted to finish a whole bomber of.
