COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after its golden color and effervescence, the complex yet smooth tast of Golden Chaos lives up to its name! Golden Chaos is a Belgian style golden ale made from fresh imported German and English hops, brewed using the finest American rock candy, giving this fine ale a fruity aroma taste that leads to a surprisingly dry finish. The subtle notes of plum, apricot, and pear achieve a perfect balance of fruitiness, spiciness, and hoppiness.

Draft at Eureka. Hazy deep golden color, white edge head. Aroma of boozy butterscotch. Taste is boozy sweet and sour fruit. Nice complexity, but definitely a big beer.

Draft @ the brewery. Pours a golden color with a white head. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty aroma. Fruity malty spicy yeasty flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty finish.

Bottle:   Darker straw, hazy, thin to moderate frothy white head, little lacing.   Wheaty like nose, a bit of must or barnish funk, but slight.   On the tongue it has a wheaty base, lacks carbonation, but feels slightly musty with a bit of a fruity background.   Not vibrant, but thankfully not mealy like so many other examples.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes wheaty, slightly fruity, and a little dank.   Could use more carbonation, but as is its not too bad.

Yikes! Pours murky muddled yellow with no head to speak of. Completely off form the clear sparkling yellow with effervescence that I expect in a "golden ale" Aroma is clove oddly hefe-ish and sweet pear. Taste is cloyingly sweet and lacking complexity. Palate is awful thick and chewy with so little carbonation it just dies on your tongue. I wouldn’t order this again if I was using some one elses mouth.

This is a favorite of mine. Always grab a growler of this brew. Nice light appearance, and great aftertaste.

750ml from WF, Venice. Very handsome deep gold to copper pour, lively carbonation and an appropriate level of stickiness. Nose is sweet and yeasty, almost like a particularly malty saison or a modified biere de garde. Taste is definitely tilted a bit too much towards the sweet end of things for my tastes. Rock candy? I like a bit more spice and hops in the finish, as I feel that’s what makes this style, but this was still a good one.

Poured from a twenty-two ounce bottle into a stemless goblet. Tons of spice steaming from the glass. Scents of grated ginger, powdered nutmeg, and dehydrated dark cherry clash against maple encrusted biscuit. Thick, beaten egg white head fizzes down quickly to vertical strands of crackling lace. The fruitiness adds much welcomed depth to an otherwise saccharine entry. The list of fruity flavors is near interminable with candied granny smith apples, apricot preserves, ripe plum, crisp Fuji apple, spiced pear, and cream sickle. The finish has a great deal of bread as cinnamon coffee cake comes to mind. Medium-bodied, but sticky with sweetness. Would have been refreshing if it didn’t feel as though I were swilling powdered sugar.

On tap at BWW. I'm a big Belgian strong ale fan but this probably won't make my "must have again" list. Pretty sweet and dry, but reminds me more of a shocktop than say delirium which is my goto when I think of a BSA. Very cloudy which makes it look and feel more like a wheat beer. I have a minor wheat allergy so we'll see in an hour or two if there is a substantial amount of wheat like I suspect there is. Nice fruity taste up front though and the 8.5% abv is pretty well hidden. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
