Number 2!

Appearance: Pours a bright maroon with no head.

Aroma: Sweet and sour berries.

Taste: Sweet and sour berries and light funk.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, sticky and low carbonation.

Overall: Fantastically tasty. Not super sour, not terribly funky, but highly drinkable, and captured a tangy tart berry in a sour beer.

A: The pour is a deep purple color with a bit of cloudiness and no head at all. S: The nose is very pleasant. There is a bit of lactic acidity and a nice tartness. The boysenberries don’t make the beer overly fruity, but a nice hint of sweetness. T: The beer has lactic tartness with a slight acetic character at first (though the vinegar dissipates with subsequent sips). The fruit skins provide some mild tannins and a bit of fruit flavor. M: The lack of carbonation gives the perception of slickness on the tongue. The finish is moderately dry. D: One of the better sour beers from Bootlegger’s thus far. Boysenberries are a fruit you don’t often see used, but they worked well here.
