Overall, I have to go against with what my friends have said about this, it was some what tasty until the end, when it turned vile.

m4rest88 (332) - Beverly Hills, California, USA - MAR 7, 2010
Pours with a hazy amber hue. Aroma is of Champagne, yeast, citrus, and barnyard, which is the dominant scent of this beer. Flavor is astringent, acidic, sour, and leaves a barley/ grainey after taste in one’s mouth. Medium mouthfeel, with light, lively carbonation

A: The pour is a clear burnt orange color with essentially no head and very little (if any) carbonation. S: The nose provides a nice lactic tartness and a musty funk which I almost always find enjoyable. There is a slight fruit (grapes) component to the nose, which likely comes from the wine barrel. T: Unfortunately, the fruitiness doesn’t quite translate to the palate here. The acidity is still there, both lactic and even a mild acetic quality provide some tartness, but nothing overwhelming. There is a mild funk and some notes of oak as well. M: The pour is very lightly carbonated (though admittedly not the intent), but I think it works well and makes the beer more "traditional". As a result, a nice slick feel on the tongue. D: The acidity is moderate enough to make this easy to drink. I found this to be really pleasant and I look forward to all the other sour/barrel aged offerings Bootlegger’s has.
