3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 MattH (533) - California, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Bottle. Hazy yellow gold pour. Aroma of banana. Flavor consists of clove, vanilla, cooked banana and a little bit of unripe banana, which adds a slightly sour flavor. Pleasant banana flavor lingers in the mouth after beer has been finished. I think someone previously wrote that this beer was a cross between an American Wheat Ale and a German Hefeweizen. I feel that this an accurate assessment.

Bottle: Dirty hazy orangish straw, thin sudsy white head, little lacing. Lots of pale fruit on the nose, melon, some pear, a touch of apple. Make that candied Apple. Smells great, but as a German Hefeweizen... lolwut? Wheaty on the tongue, but again very fruity. I wouldn’t say this is German or American, but some bastardization that is really fruity. Some spritzy character, not very much of a wheaty mouthfeel, slight I guess. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Lots of melon, pear, and candied apples on the finish. Weird... in a good way!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Chuckaduck (490) - Kentucky, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Pours a cloudy gold with a white head. Aroma is banana, wheat, earthy, crisp, clove. Taste is wheaty, banana, citrus, grass. I’m not big on Hefeweizen in general, so I didn’t love this. Doesn’t make it a bad beer. Overall, pretty plain for a hefe.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 dukeredhair (234) - California, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Very middle of the road offering. not as offensive to the term "hefeweizen" as most american takes but you’d be better of just getting a german hefe without a doubt. Aroma is light banana/ clove. Appearance is somewhat cloudy yellow with loose bubbles. Taste is sweet and middle of the road. palate isn’t very silky for a hefe. overall there are a bunch of better options out there, don’t waste your time.

Par for the course. I’d expect a Hef to be a little more cloudy. Reminds me a little of Franzikaner.

Pours a murky dark gold color with just a thin head forming on top. The aroma is nice; full of cloves, cinnamon and herbal spice, banana, and some wheat. It’s good going down too. Light-bodied, lightly spiced, with plent of citrus, most notably banana, yeast, and soft vanilla notes. A solid refreshing choice on a hot day.
