Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has strong notes of fruit - peaches, as well as some notes of malt. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of acidic fruits like lemon as well as notes of brettanomyces, rye, and wood, leading to a tart lemony finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

On tap at the taproom. It pours a more or less clear pale amber body and a small white head. Lightly spiced, citrusy aroma with some malty notes. Decent bitterness in the mouth. Some malty sweetness, tropical fruits and a hint of rye. Full body, nice carbonation. Lasting finish. A quite nice one. 130812

A: The pour is a clear light amber/burnt orange color with a thin white head on top. S: The nose is very pleasant with plenty of orange and grapefruit along with some sweet bready and caramel malts. T: The flavor is sort of overwhelmed by a sharp and overly intense bitterness. I love IPAs as much as the next person, but I found this one to be "off". The citrus and malt flavors are totally overwhelmed. M: The body is medium with a tingly carbonation and that unfortunate bitterness lingers on the tongue. D: I was expecting to really enjoy this beer, but something didnít quite work out. I donít know if it was the "hopinator" itself that caused the extreme bitterness, but it was not the experience I was looking for.

A: The pour is an orangish-yellow color with a nice white head on top, which sticks around for quite awhile. S: The smell is primarily citrus hops (grapefruit) with a touch of caramel but no rye notes to speak of. T: The taste is a bit better than the nose. The grapefruit hops are there along with a somewhat mild bitterness. The caramel malt provides a bit more sweetness than Iím used to in an IPA, but not bad. Again, no rye to be found. M: Medium in body with moderate carbonation. D: This IPA isnít too bad, but not necessarily one of the better west coast incarnations. The name is also a bit misleading as I really failed to detect any of the usual rye characteristics.

Bomber. Pours copper with a foamy light beige head. Aroma is rather rye with some floral hop. Medium body with mild carbonation. It really is rye, mildly roasted. The hop does seem highly floral. Might be a touch of citrus. Itís very bitter, and maybe some of that is from the malt. Itís pretty tasty, and stands apart from "normal" IPAs.
