2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BobbyAnalog (209) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 3, 2011
Never has a beer been more gelatinously sweet and honey-combed as this one. Herbs have been tea bagged to the max in this beer, as this brew tastes like someone blew up a spice cupboard during the brewing process. This Spring Ale also, for some unknown reason, tastes of pineapple and canadian bacon pizza. A little too saccharine for someone to fill up their tank with, this Bootlegger’s offering is good for sampling and not much else. The honey bubbles and oozes to form something that’s less of a beer and more of a syrup. Interesting flavor, but interesting isn’t always good.

Pours a golden yellow aroma of herbs and honey. The smell kind of reminds me of Christmas pines. Taste of cloves at first drink and sweetness of honey in the aftertaste. A slight nutmeg flavor throughout the beer. A decent twist on the normal ale.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Blake (396) - Orange, California, USA - AUG 4, 2010
Had on tap at Bootleggers Brewery. Pours golden yellow with nice white head. Aroma is strong honey with nice flower, lavender balance. Taste is nicely balanced with malts and chamomile. The honey dominates the flavor with a good lingering malt and spice flavor. Easy to drink, very nice beer with complex flavors.

I had this on tap at Bootlegger’s Second Anniversary party. Clear golden pour with a white head, the balance of flavor between the sage, honey, tarragon & chamomile was very nicely done.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 alexanderj (2851) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 17, 2010
On tap; poured a clear gold/yellow. Aroma of spice, chamomile, honey and medicine. Flavor was better and would be a great winter beer. A bit medicinal. Liked it more than I thought
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 womencantsail (3927) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - MAR 4, 2010
A: The pour is an incredibly hazy light golden color with a thin ring of white foam.
S: Plenty of herbal and floral notes to this one. The sage is the dominant aroma, but the tarragon makes an appearance offering some subtle licorice notes. I don’t notice the chamomile so much.
T: The flavor is quite savory, most likely due to the sage. The tarragon becomes a bit more noticeable as the beer warms and the anise notes come through. There is a slight sweetness and citrus flavor as well and a mild bitterness.
M: The body is on the lighter side of medium, but some nice lively carbonation really makes this one pleasing to the palate.
D: I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this, and I’m often weary of beers with so many herbs and flowers as ingredients as they’re easily over done. I think some restraint was used here, but you do have to enjoy all the flavorings quite a bit to like this.
