Deep amber pour with very little carbonation. The aroma is quite bockish. Some heavy sweet malt and a touch of very light maple character. There is a touch of ethanol and some light dryness on the finish. A bit of cooling ethanol on the finish. Soft and clean and pretty decent.

[3814-20110708] 375mL bottle. Fragrant bread bakery with some smoky maple Danish pastries aroma. Clear, brown amber body with no lasting head. Boozy maple-tinted bread flavour. Great to sample, not suited for more. (9/3/6/3/13) 3.4-

Bottle (375ml) shared with HogTownHarry, JoeMcPhee, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy amber-brown with no head. Aroma is quite boozy along with maple syrup, wood, brown sugar and caramel malt. Flavour’s better in my opinion with maple syrup, caramel malt, brown sugar and a significant amount of alcohol in the dry finish. Syrupy mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied. Good not great.

2011-07-08. Syrupy brown body, is headless but leaves nice legs on the glass. 3+ Sweet sugary aroma, modest alcohol, and hints at maple. Dry alcoholic finish, sweet sugary notes come back in the aftertaste. 7+ Smooth medium to full bodied palate with a modest alcohol burn. Decent, it gets to be a bit strong and a bit intense fairly quickly, but enjoyable in small quantities. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

Disappointing overall. Completely flat with heavy body, overpoweringly woody flavour with an acidic edge. I waited 8 months to open this bottle, perhaps it was too long.

Has a smell of heavy candied barley syrup, maybe some maple syrup in there as well if you inhale really deeply. Pours with little head and a soft amber body. Flavour is a thick and muddy taste of wood, sugar, and maple syrup. The finish is cloying and sweet. As a barley wine it’s okay; but its flavour comes off as a bit messy.
