Draft. Pours a hazy orange body with an off white head. Dry bretty leather tones with a dusty hop character. Dry and earth y with a nice herbal note. Mild hop tones a bit grassy and earthy. A medium body with soft carbonation. Quite nice.

Mondiale 2010. Pours a hazed amber with an ok head. Aroma is funky horse, brett with citrus and tropical notes- brett c pineapple kick, then dust, earth, phenolic- not too many off esters or acids. Flavor is sweet, caramel, toffee, toast, wheat, then some light minerally white wine mixed with more funk, earth, horse stink, slight leather sea salt and mineral, strange acids and light cheesy funk- isovaleric and butyric as it warms, slight vanilla, earth and light coconut shavings. Slight acidity and mostly dry. Pretty good but funk gets a touch overboard as it warms.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. An interesting attention grabber. Blond colour with sheets of lace. A chemical aroma, the glass was fine. Decent drinkability, some grainy mouthfeel, some fruit. Brett in secondary.

In short: A very brettty leathery blonde ale. Kick-ass.
How: Tap at Montreal Mondial de la Bière 2010
The look: Cloudy peach color topped by a persistent medium beige head
In long: Nose is bretty and musty with notes of leather and oranges. Taste is horse blanket, lots of leather, grapefruits, oranges, pineapples. Finish has no bitterness to speak of and is quite tart and dry. Body is full and lively. This was totally unexpected. Boquébière is a rather ordinary place making rather ordinary beers. I just tried that one because I’m a brett-head. Holy crap, one of the best brett beer Quebec as produced so far. Totally unexpected. As unexpected as award-winning science-fiction author Arthur C Clark walking into my bathroom to propose to me a different brand of dental floss.

Aroma : Wild and barnyard. Quite a lot of brett. Horse blanket, a bit spicy. Fruity.
Taste : Spicy and fruity. Wild, humid basement, horse blanket. Finish brett, spices and fruits.
Overall : Quite tasty stuff. A big surprise (thanks to glouglou for the tip). Nice brett presence. Very barnyard and leathery. Quite fruity. Nice brett beer. Re-rate 100707 : Text format fixed.
