the color is pale-amber with dense haze. Citrus dominates to the nose and flavors are balanced with fruit and wheat. The beer feels heavy and leaves a sour finish.

My Bottom Line:
Banana esters, doughy cereals and herbal hops are bothered by a wet, vegetal finish in this drinkable but slightly flawed Wheat Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam sits atop the muddy beige.
-This vegetal aftertaste could be the result of a clash between the characterful (and often green-tasting) Frontenac malts and the chosen bittering hops. But it might very well be an entirely different problem, it’s hard to tell with all the floating yeast in each sip.
-The body was rather healthy and would have led to big gulps if not for the marred finish (to my tastes).
-Wheat adds a little citrus, but the doughy nature of the grain bill tends to overthrow the finer flavors of the wheat.

On tap at the brewpub.

A turbid yellow ale with a thin white head. Aroma of sulfur and light bananas. In mouth, a good intense bananas and cloves, oily mouthfeel, very interesting. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 30 2008.
