Pours plain black. Seems a little ... thick. Good beige head, disappearing fast, but pretty large lace remaining for quite a while. My nose is basically blown up, so I can’t have much of a clue about that aroma (sorry!), except for those boozy and ethyllic notes. Taste is surprisingly citrusy for a beer which isn’t a BIPA and still possess some good notes of dark fruits as well. Strong coffee taste. Finish is bitter and quite long. Sticky. Good stuff, really. Price -- 5,79 for a 500ml from Peluso is surprisingly good as well.

Bottle - 500ml. Pours an opaque black body with low carbonation and a huge beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with roasted coffee and chocolate hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Its robust malty/hoppy taste carries roasty, coffeeish, plummy, and grainy notes. Ends with a long, strong bitter/roasty finish. Good stuff, but it could be a bit more complex.

Évaluation no. 76 Mars 2011.

(version 2012)

500 ml bottle that said Hopkins Imperial Stout. Pours an opaque black with a resilient beige head. Smell is very much roasty/burnt. Taste is roasty, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, mocha. Finish is a solid ashy-coffeeish bitterness. Lingering coffee taste. Extremely thick body, creamy mouthfeel. Weak to medium carbonation. It is everything that it should be, that is, a solid, robust imperial stout, and I feel like everytime I open up a new bottle from those guys, the brews are more solid.

bottle from le grand-duc A : Coffee / roastiness, chocolate, grappes, caramel App: pitch black lasting beige head T/P : full body long bitter finish. Average carbonation. O : Good lack some roastiness and it’s a bit too bitter for the style imho.
