COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boréale Blonde is made from a pale malt of premium, two-row barley that gives it a luminous colour and velvety flavour. Selected hops add a crisp and refreshing bitter harmony to the mellow notes.

A very good and very popular "house" beer in Montreal. Had this accompanying a plate of poutine! Smooth, spicy, refreshing. Full finish. Nice nuttiness and effervescence! Crisp finish!

Tap, some great little frites place on the Rue St. Catherine, Montreal. Lightly hoppy aroma with a touch of sulfur. Bright clean maltiness. Small hints of sulfur. This screams kolch to me, and an excellent one at that.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2006 2005 bottle at the Iguana Cafe in Montreal, 6/5/05 with Tiggmtl and Muzzlehatch, served chilled in a pilsener glass. Soft, straw and blonde-golden colored ale, moderate amount of white head recedes slowly to cover, with no lacing. Aroma of two-row barley, light grass and cornbread, a bit of doughiness and perhaps some mineral water. Flavor has light low quality/cereal graininess notes at first, but picks up a touch of light hay and earthy barley notes, albeit light. A light honey-vanilla note is particularly pleasing. Easy to compare to McAuslan Griffon Blonde, but it is no competitor, as the Griffon has far more real malt flavor, more hops flavor and a more crisp yeast and hops finish. Still, this isn’t a bad beer by any means, maybe a touch too dry and bready, but the carbonation, which I know must be forced, is low and not horribly disruptive on the palate. Light grassiness is apparent, somewhat as it warms. Medium-light body, not terribly watery as it breathes and warms either. 5/3/7/3/13

Aug 2006 Draught at Cucina, Montreal. Wow. Like a whole different beer on draught. Wonderful, lightly juicy, yet crisp and aromatic hops overlace a soft pils malt backing. Crisp, light, clean yeast. Soft, easygoing, but ample quantities of carbonation distribute the honey and hop notes evenly. A slight waxiness is about the only off-flavor I find. Some nectarins, apricots and peaches add complexity. One of the better blondes I’ve had recently. Minimal wateriness. No alcohol. Medium aroma strength. Decently retained, white head and lots of it. 7/4/8/4/16

Had this with an Italian meal at a sidewalk cafe in Montreal. Perfect beer for a hot, humid summer day and an accompaniment to my meal of linguini. Pours a nice light golden color with a medium-sized head. Flavor was very hoppy, malty with a bitter finish to it. I liked this so much I brought a 12 pack home with me!

Bottled. Very fresh aroma with a hint of citrus and nice hops. Yellow color, off-white head, few lace. Sweet, light bitter, herbal, bit fruity, very refreshing. Straightforward but very nice to drink.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2004 Re-rate: Mildly hop nose, lightly toasty aroma. Clear blond body with decent white head that recedes slowly and good carbonation. Nice light toasty malt flavour with a touch of balancing hops. Carbonation is high and body is light - a good thirst quencher on a muggy evening. On tap (at Frappe St. Laurent). Original rating (4-2-5-2-11=2.4): Sweet corn and mild hops in the aroma. Clear blond beer with thin white fully diminishing head. Fair amount of bitterness that almost overshadows a gentle toasty malt flavour with little hop flavour. Body is pretty thin and highly carbonated. Bottle.
