bouteille, la meilleure bière jamais brassée par les brasseur du nord, dommage qu’elle soit disparue, la Boréale cuivrée la remplace mais elle est de moindre qualitée.

Bought some years ago in Québec. Bottle. Amber colour with a nice head. Caramellic malty aroma. Flavour is smooth with malt, caramel and some alcohol. Now this brew is called Boréale Rousse and with lower alc.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2005 Original Rating (4-1-5-1-7=1.8): Oxidized (wet paper) aroma with some sweet caramel malt. Clear copper colour with minimal white fully diminishing head. Seems very malty at first but flavour dies quickly. Body kind of lifeless and thin. Hardly a fair evaluation since I’ve had this bottle under occasionally dubious storage conditions for years. I believe the new Cuivree is based on this original recipe and in a side by side comparison (totally unfair due to aging) the new one wins... Bottle.
Rerate (5-2-5-2-10=2.4): Caramel, toffee and hints of alcohol in the aroma. Clear copper colour with minimal white head that lasts well. Malty up front but fades quickly to a candyish sweetness. Light body is somewhat hot. Bottle. Entered from notes.

Candyish. Like a Belgian-style malt liquor or something.
