Nearly black with ruby glints and a creamy head, Boréale Noire is a full-bodied stout. Its rich velvety taste suggests dark chocolate and roasted coffee with hints of licorice.

Not sure how I never rated this before. This stuff is more burnt toast and liquorice than chocolate and coffee, though I get notes of all four, plus something vaguely fruity. Nice texture, but I wouldn’t call it full-bodied. Solid and serviceable, but lacks a little something. Still, for $9.99 a sixer, the "qualite-prix" ratio is pretty high.

341 ml bottle. BBE 28.04.2015.
Pours deep dark red color with a small head. Loads of licorice on the aroma, some dark malts, dark chocolate notes and maybe faint salmiac too. Sweet malts and salmiac on the flavor, some licorice, coffee notes, chocolate and some very faint citric fruit notes, there’s even some slight smoky notes also. Velvety smooth oily palate, slightly old but doesn’t affect the end result at all. Lovely.

Dark brown color, small off-white head. Aroma has dark chocolate, cardboard and toasted maltyness. Medium-bodied. Light lactose in the front, chocolaty with hints of sweet licorice. Milk stouty. Ok.

341ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, frothy to cremay, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Dark malty aroma, notes of liquorice. Taste is dark malty, slightly chocolately, subtle sweetness, minimally buttery with a toffee touch. OK.

Superbe!

Six-pack bought at the grocery store. I’ve been buying quite a bit of this QC stout lately - pours a deep brown/black, with red hints when held up to a light. Less head than many stouts (actually a nice change from the pillowy nitrogen-foam heads from many canned stouts these days), thin and coffee-coloured, hung around all the way to the bottom of the pint glass. Nice lacing. Aromas of coffee, roasted barley, leather and licorice. Very little hoppiness, ever so slightly sour taste. Emminently quaffable.

Dark to black body, stable head. Dry, toasted, burned bread, cereal. Too lightly hopped for my taste. Especially with its bubbly yet softly carbonated body. Okay stuff. (Bottle from Saveur Bière)
