COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nearly black with ruby glints and a creamy head, Boréale Noire is a full-bodied stout. Its rich velvety taste suggests dark chocolate and roasted coffee with hints of licorice.

341ml bottle. Pours jet black with thin tan head; very light lacing. Aroma is liquorice, very light coffee, roasted malt and a fairly strong smoked note. Taste again mixes liquorice, molasses, and coffee - touch of light chocolate in there too. Again a slightly sweet smokiness is in there, almost reminiscent of a Rauchbier...but I've had a couple of beers before this so maybe that's down to a bit of palate fatigue on my part. Very light body for a stout - lighter even than dry Irish style stouts - so it actually remains pretty refreshing and easy going. Residual hop bitterness comes through and the smokey coffee notes stick around in the aftertaste for a while. Not bad at all.

341ml bottle. Nice dark black pour with a light brown head. Roasted malts, bit of molasses and lactose, chocolate, some caramelized brown sugar. Slight bitterness, moderate body and carbonation, more malt and chocolate. Nice.

Aroma of molasses, licorice, roasted malts. Taste of the same. No discernable hops flavor or aroma, but there is a balancing bitterness. Medium lasting roasty bitterness. Wish I could get it regularly in Ontario. Great go to beer.

Simple aroma and almost black appearance leads to a dry but easy drinking taste with tones of coffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 341 ml bottle into a pint. A very dark ale with a beige, thin head. Low retention. Tastes extremely chocolatey and caffeish, with a good bitter, dark coffee taste. Has a very persistent, lingering maltey chocolate after-taste. Texture could gain from being thicker, yet it is a very good, widely available and usually very reasonably-priced stout.

341ml bottle, 5.5% a/v, received as a gift from my brother. Pours a lovely oily black, with a nice chestnut brown head. The aroma is of chocolate, espresso and nuts as well as some warming alcohol. The taste is very well balanced and perfect for a cool day. Nuts, espresso, chocolate and some dark stone fruit notes. Very impressive and tremendously well balanced. The palate is quite full and the taste stays with you for a long time. Great choice bro!
