Nearly black with ruby glints and a creamy head, Boréale Noire is a full-bodied stout. Its rich velvety taste suggests dark chocolate and roasted coffee with hints of licorice.

Poured from a 341 ml bottle into a pint. A very dark ale with a beige, thin head. Low retention. Tastes extremely chocolatey and caffeish, with a good bitter, dark coffee taste. Has a very persistent, lingering maltey chocolate after-taste. Texture could gain from being thicker, yet it is a very good, widely available and usually very reasonably-priced stout.

341ml bottle, 5.5% a/v, received as a gift from my brother. Pours a lovely oily black, with a nice chestnut brown head. The aroma is of chocolate, espresso and nuts as well as some warming alcohol. The taste is very well balanced and perfect for a cool day. Nuts, espresso, chocolate and some dark stone fruit notes. Very impressive and tremendously well balanced. The palate is quite full and the taste stays with you for a long time. Great choice bro!

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2011 Bière noire au col beige présentant des arômes de torréfaction et de café. Simple, crémeuse, elle évoque la mélasse. C’est un très bon stout.

Aroma of fish, alcohol, grape skins. Pours with a beautiful brown-beige head and a ruby-black body. Extra points for the small baggy of roasted malts, which means this one gets a perfect score in the appearance department! Taste is a huge chocolate sunday rush with a coffee finish. Palate is a little too sweet for my liking, though. This is a very good stout, nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours a mostly black body with an off white head. Light creme and vanilla a bit sweet with chocolate, licorice, and light coffee tones. Creamy and minerals with a drying finish. Nice.

Metalchopz (2400) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 6, 2010
Originally rated November 2005. Pours a pitch black colour with no sign of ruby highlights. The brown head is thick, creamy, foamy and fizzy with great retention. Smells hints of caramel, roasted malts and molasse. Bitterness throughout with a smooth finish. Then, bitterness comes around in the background. Smoky notes in there too, and not sweet at all, nor too dry. More on the coffee side, than on the chocolat side. Great generic stout with a smooth taste and a good alcohol content.

341ml bottle. pours almost black with a thick tan head that quickly fades. leaves minimal lacing. aroma is roasted malts and some faint notes of chocolate. taste is all chocolate. a little thin and watery for my liking, but at $7.99 for a 6 pack it’s a good beer for when you’re with your casual beer drinking friends.
