With its gleaming copper colour and caramel malt aromas, Boréale Rousse has a full, mellow taste with subtle bitter notes that give it a rich, distinctive character - an ale that grows on you with each sip.

Poured a large amount of head, slightly off-white, creamy and foamy. A bit of carbonation. Fair retention and very good lacing. Has a reddish, amber tint in appearance. Light roasted malts and mild hops in aromas. Has somewhat rusty, malted flavours, mildly spiced. Has a bit of a mild tingling, bitter aftertaste and mouthfeel. Pretty darn good.

Pours a clear dark copper topped by a finger of fizzy off-white head shwing good retention and lacing properties. Good carbonation spotted through the glass. The nose is sweet roasted malts. Medium body, the taste is roasted malts and faint hops. Not bad. Cheers!

On tap at some random location. Pours a clear red with a small offwhite head that leaves light lacing. Nose is of caramel and light roasted malt. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Caramel and light fruits. Body is medium, carbonation moderate. Overall a fair amber ale, a bit oldschool but still a valid option when there is nothing else around.

Draught @ Aux Anciennes Canadiens, Québec. Pours nearly clear dark amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with notes of fruit and yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with estery snd fruity touches and some bitter notes of hops. Estery aftertaste with fruity and malty hints. High carbonation. Nothing really special but definitely drinkable.

On tap. A clear, dark amber beer with a small, dense offwhite head. The aroma has some caramel and bread, a touch of prunes and some grass. There’s not much bitterness going on, but not much sweetness either. Bread, caramel and some grassy hints. Medium to thin on the palate, soft. Quite short finish. Decent, far from exciting. 150611
