2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 JensenTaster (1718) - DENMARK - AUG 17, 2005
(on bottle at RBESG 2005)A clear bottle? Brown colour, white head. malt, but very mild. Also a mild carbonation, no trace of alcohol here either, maybe the malts are too much for the mere 6,6%?
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 maeib (6622) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JUL 19, 2005
Bottled (trade with Sigmund - Cheers!). A dark brown beer with a ruby hue and little head to speak of. The aroma is quite sweet with caramel and chocolate coming through. However there is also a metallic twang perhaps due to the pasteurization. The taste is also on the sweet side with more cara/choc. A nice body to what is a nice beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (22948) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 24, 2005
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) With 6,6% ABV this is by far the strongest Norwegian beer I’ve had so far. High alcohol is not really something to speak of aloud in Norway... Pretty dark with a reddish tint, almost mahogany. Limited, light brown head. Dark and malty aroma wit a fine but not to overwhelming sweetness. Pronounced bitterness. 200104

Bottle.
Aroma: Roasted grain, oranges, slight hop bitterness.
Looks: Red brown, lowish creamy head, pearling carbonation.
Flavor: Caramel, roasted malt, slightly smoked - everything is quicklu fading though.
Alcohol burn towards the end.
Palate: Solid body, fizzly mouthfeel,
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - SEP 4, 2003
Dark amber color, generous thick head. Light malt and caramel nose. Ordinary taste, with a prevalence of caramel. Ordinary palate.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 25, 2003
Yes, it's from a big brewery, but I didn't have any beef with this brew - it hit the spot for me. Maybe it was the thirst-inducing walk to the top of Oslo's Holmenkollen ski jump, but I was dying for a brew and this Borg Bock was sufficiently sweet and malty to slake my thirst. The brew is massively dark (think porter) and has a nice creamy head. Not much in the way of hops, but there are some subtle spice hints. Enjoy!

A well rounded winter-warmer. Caramel both in aroma and flavor. OK hops. A good, but not very interesting example of the style.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sigmund (3710) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - MAY 25, 2002
Rich and sweetish, spicy, hints of coffee and caramel. Not a bad bock.

Sweet, with a caramel accent. Pretty typical big brewery bock. (lousy notes, yes, but it’s a lousy beer).
