Bottle at home. Dark reddish brown colour with thin light beige head. Sweet aromas of berries, leather and chocolate. More dark chocolate in the mouth along with leather. A very slick mouthfeel. The taste is okay but a little bit too sweet in my opinion.

Pours dark brown with a slightly tanned head. Aroma of dark sweet malts, hints of Christmas spices, and brown sugar. Unbalanced, as there is a wall of sweetness, and no bitterness detectable. However, this beer is supposed to be sweet, I like it that way.

Bottle. Dark amber, small to average and fully diminishing light brown head. Moderate, malty and caramel sweetish aroma, light fruitiness and light roasted malt. Body is medium, malty and sweet flavor, caramel - light toffee light and light roasted malt, faint fruitiness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, caramel and light roasted malt. Caramel sweet bock - way too sweet

0.33l bottle. Have been trying to avoid this for a while now, but I guess it’s time to try it. Pours a dark dark reddishbrown body with a medium sized bubbly light caramel-head. Aroma is light sweet with some burned caramel, notes of wood, smoke and black currants and some light hints of thin coffee. Has a oily to sticky mouthfeeling, average to soft carbonation and it’s medium-bodied. Tastes not as sweet as I thought. It has notes of burned caramel, thin coffee, some woody notes along with hints of campfire. Lasting ashy and light smoky aftertaste. Not as bad as I thought after just looking at the bottle.

Clear glass bottle, clear glass bottle, mayday, mayday! After having an obvious(?) bad Amstel Pulse the other day I’ve become a bit sceptic towards beers that are not tapped on brown bottles… At least this one looks good: a dark brown body with a nice amber hue. However the medium light brown head reduces to a thin layer rather quickly and there is very little lacing. The aroma is a massive wall of sweetness! A genuine malt bomb! I get sweet malts (duh!), dates, brown sugar, christmassy spices and some lightly toasted notes. The taste is heavy sweet but fortunately it is successfully balanced by a medium bitterness. The aftertaste is also quite bitter, even though the sweetness stays on. The flavours are of course on the malty side, but there is also a nice vinous feel with warming alcohol. The carbonation is pleasantly soft, and the medium body has an oily texture. A very nice beer, although I suspect many will find it far too sweet. But not me. Yum yum.
[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Grønlad Basar, Oslo]
