"Garún is named for the strong and brave heroine of one of Iceland’s most popular folktales "The deacon of Dark River (Myrká)." A tale of ghosts, undying love, and life triumphing over death told against the backdrop of elements essential to Iceland’s character: ice, snow, and flooding waters whirling dark and mysterious. The same elements that inspire this rich, intense, bold and swirlingly varied Icelandic stout. Garún is a dark aura of intense richness and haunting aroma with notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee. Skál!"

Ebony brown colour, creamy firm brown head. Intense aroma of dark roasted malt and ground coffee. Full mouth feel, medium carbonation, solid sweet alcohol base. Massive taste of bitter black coffee. Strong, bitter and very long finish.

Bottle to stout glass Decadent caramel, lots of malt, some brine, and cream. Silky jet black with a thin tan head. Malt, caramel, treacle, oats, some coffee and a strong late bitterness. It’s medium bodied, and silky, and has a slight warmness to it. I can’t believe this is 11.5%...at least not right now. This is going down quick and I’ll believe that in 15 minutes.

Pours brown, brown and thin layer of foam. Aroma not really there, maybe too too cold - but not getting much even when it warms. Taste is warming, sweet, alcohol kick and liquorice with some dark fruits. Beer for a cold winter night. More like a sweet porter for me, not so much of a stout. Good.

330 ml bottle, pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is rich, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dried cherries, hints of liquorice and vanilla. Alcohol comes through on the finish. Body is full, texture oily and slick, carbonation is average. Medium sweetness and lightly bitter to end.

Pours an opaque black with a thin tan ring of head. Aroma is roasted malts, anise, dark dried fruits, dates, rasins, chocolate, caramel, and a coffee+cream quality. Flavour is roasted malts, anise, alcohol, chocolate, medium bitterness, dark dried fruits, grainy, and a moderately dry finish.

Strongest stout I've had yet, really good. Aroma of strong malts, coffee and chocolate. Strong initial taste of malts and dark fruits, aftertaste of coffee and liquorice. Highly recommended checking this one out!

Aroma is licorice, coffee, dark sugars and roasted malts. Taste is a deep rich malt profile that is similar to aroma with extra tastes from toffee and caramel. Finishes with a slight bitterness that is fairly well balanced. Appearance is black with a medium brown head that retains fairly well.
