"Garún is named for the strong and brave heroine of one of Iceland’s most popular folktales "The deacon of Dark River (Myrká)." A tale of ghosts, undying love, and life triumphing over death told against the backdrop of elements essential to Iceland’s character: ice, snow, and flooding waters whirling dark and mysterious. The same elements that inspire this rich, intense, bold and swirlingly varied Icelandic stout. Garún is a dark aura of intense richness and haunting aroma with notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee. Skál!"

Pours an opaque black with a big bubbly brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa and alcohol all in a pleasant balance. Taste is roasted malts, cocoa, chocolate and a nice bitter coffee on the finish Thays a touch astringent with a nice alcohol warming on the finish. Impressed with my first Icelandic beer and fairly smooth for being 11.5 percent.

The best thing about Garún is how lightly bodied it is. Very nice dark beige head when poured into a glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee, the taste as well + some licorice. Thumbs up to Borg for a great Imperial Icelandic Stout.

Bottle, muled back from our Iceland adventure. Heart dark brown with mahogany highlights, lasting tan head. Chocolate, soy sauce, birch syrup, stewed cherries. Rich and satisfying.

Bottle pour. Thanks Keven. Good stuff here. Pours black with a tan head to it. Licorice on the aroma. Smokey, roasted flavors with some sweetness to it. A little vanilla too. Solid stout here, and super smooth flavor. Really good beer.

330 ml bottle. L012720. Courtesy of Timo A. Kiitti! Pitch black colour with a tiny tan head. The aroma is sweet malt, bready malt, roasty notes, dark chocolate and sweetness. The flavour is sweet malt, dark fruits, raisins and dry... well... It's not dry... Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Iliste, thanks pal! Pours black with a fizzy brown head, rests down to a ring. Aroma has dark chocolate, roasted malt and liquorice. Taste has dark chocolate, liquorice, lots of roasted notes, almost burnt. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, smooth mouth feel Dry after taste, slight alcohol.
Nice with a dryer Imperial Stout for once in a while.
