COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Garún is named for the strong and brave heroine of one of Iceland’s most popular folktales "The deacon of Dark River (Myrká)." A tale of ghosts, undying love, and life triumphing over death told against the backdrop of elements essential to Iceland’s character: ice, snow, and flooding waters whirling dark and mysterious. The same elements that inspire this rich, intense, bold and swirlingly varied Icelandic stout. Garún is a dark aura of intense richness and haunting aroma with notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee. Skál!"

Noir sombre avec une petite robe marron foncé. L’arôme intense du chocolat, café, réglisse et du malt torréfié. En bouche c’est trčs onctueux. Presque huileux, sauf pour les bulles! D’abord il y a du chocolat et réglisse, puis du malt torréfié et du café, ensuite une finition amer bien équilibré. L’aprčs goűt reprend le chocolat et malt torréfié. Trčs sombre et complexe. Excellente.

Black with coffee foam head. Aroma has some sweeter, woody cognac tones amongst the roasted malts. Overall it’s quite a sweet flavour for a stout. Some woody and boozy notes in the finish.

Pitch black with a falling large head. Strong soy and caramelized malt aroma. Chewy malt flavor. Moderate roast and dark chocolate. Still heavy on the soy, though it doesn’t really taste oxidized. Light dark berry notes, maybe some cherry peaking through. Full body.

(Thx! for sharing) Sampled bottled @ Gents Bierfestival 2015. Black, small mocha head. Nose is big on roast, light plastic, odd lactic note, milky, cereal, some soy sauce, messy. Tate is soy sauce, big roast, licorice, lactose, burned coffee,… Body is licorice, grainy roast. Okay but too messy & not entirely to my personal preferences.

Rusty beige rim over black beer. Ashes, black chocolated, spring meadow flowers. Sweet-ashy-roasted, liquorice. Balanced, if not really explosive. Full bodied, alcoholheat, viscous, long-lasting flavours (for the haunting). Surprisingly good - nose is a classic.
