"Garún is named for the strong and brave heroine of one of Iceland’s most popular folktales "The deacon of Dark River (Myrká)." A tale of ghosts, undying love, and life triumphing over death told against the backdrop of elements essential to Iceland’s character: ice, snow, and flooding waters whirling dark and mysterious. The same elements that inspire this rich, intense, bold and swirlingly varied Icelandic stout. Garún is a dark aura of intense richness and haunting aroma with notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee. Skál!"

Bottled. Almost black, minimal tan head. Chocolate and dark syrup aromas, fermented berries, a hint of figs. Sweetish maltiness, almost sugary, slightly hot alcohol. Rummy sugar and roasted barely notes notes in the finish. A hint of coffee as well. Slightly herbal bitterness. Slightly thin for this strength. Quite simple and too sweet.

(Keg at OlutExpo 2015) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, sweet liquorice and chocolate. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, chocolate, sweet liquorice, sweetness and bitternes. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A nice imperial stout that hid its high ABV well.

Pours an almost black from a bottle, aroma of licorice, coffee, chocolate, a touch of smoke. Flavor of all that too. Somewhat bitter in a very good way. Very good beer.

Craft Brixton. Keg. Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Decent fine carbonation. Rich malts, a little dark chocolate. Modest roast bitterness. Rich dark fruits, almost like from a good BBA stout. Mild spice before a smooth finish. Interesting.

Totally black beer, with cinnamon coloured head on top. Aroma has dark chocolate, roasted malts, salty feel in it. A bit alcohol pops up. Taste is quite salty, roasted malts, dark chocolate. Creamy texture and lowish carbonation.
