Medium brown body with a small, short-lived, off-white head that reduces to a thin layer. Malty sweet aroma with some dark fruits, faint hoppy notes and even fainter traces of chocolate and coffee. The taste is medium sweet with a light bitter finish, the flavours are clean but faint, I get mostly caramel. The hoppy parts in the aroma are not present in the flavours. Thin and watery mouthfeel. Boring.
[50 cl can, from Rimi Korsvoll, Oslo]

Bottle. This looks quite good, deep dark brown/ruby with big beige head. Gave it a 3 first, but as the head stays so big it’s a 4 for me. Sweet aroma with caramel and roasted malt. Taste is a bit like the aroma, with added sweetness and coffee notes. A bit sweet finish for me, but not bad overall.

0.5l can. Pours a redbrown body with a thin lacing head. Aroma is caramel, chocolate and some strange oaky flavor. Some roasted mats, caramel and some what sweet. Lively carbonated and perhaps a bit thin body. I was surprised that this actually was as good as it was, cause I had no expectations what so ever. One of the best > 4.7% i have tasted this year.

Bottle (33cl), ABV 4.5%, BB 13.7.2011. Clear, rusty red-brown colour. Small offwhite head, quickly reducing to a thin ring. Malty and slightly vegetal hoppy aroma with notes of caramel and cookies. Nicely balanced taste with hop bitterness and subdued sweetness. Light-to-medium, watery mouthfeel. Aftertaste is fairly weak, but is pleasantly bitter-malty, before it ends a bit dry and papery.

Can from my local supermarket. Pours a deep, dark bronze body with a medium off-white top. Nose is roasted malts and hints of raisins. Simple, but nice. Taste is also a lot of roastiness; dark malts and hints of figs or raisins in the back. Some caramel. This is, in my opinion, the nicest of the grocery store Xmas beers around in Norway - an OK balanced brew that’s all right to both food and as a regular thirst quencher.

garza (480) - Oslo (NO), Caracas (VE), VENEZUELA - SEP 12, 2010
Pours dark amber red colour with a tan head. Roasty caramel and malts in the aroma toguether with some spices. Malty taste with medium sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, oily feel and maybe too much carbonation. Light warm sweet after taste. Good along with norwegian julebord.
