Julefeiringener en skikk fra Tor og Odins dager. Da Olav den Hellige kristnet landet gikk folk med på å skifte tro, men "Drekka Jol" ville de ikke gi slipp på - samme hvor mange armer Olav Digre kappet av.

(on bottle at RBESG 2005)viennas are just nice, easy drinkable beers aren´they? This one was and a good example of the style too. Dark ambercoloured, no head. Some cardemomme in the aroma ans also in the taste, everything else is just nice malts. The alcohol was somewhat present in finish.

The body is on the very dark side of brown. The light-brown head consist of huge bubbles that vanish within 15 seconds, leaving nothing. Toasted aroma, caramel and some fruits. Light to moderate sweet taste and a medium to light bitter finish. The flavours are more intense than the aroma: it’s roasted with nutty notes, raisins and alcohol. The mouthfeel isn’t quite there, but still an ok beer.
[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Alna, Oslo]

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2012 Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Halden. Deep dark colour with a tan head. Dark malt and light fruity aroma. Rich and mild flavour. Dark malt, caramel and light fruity. One of the best of the "old" traditional norwegian strong christmas brew

Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Clear, dark reddish brown colour. Finger-thick offwhite head that settles as a bubbly ring. Dusty salty-sweet malt aroma with caramel and some alcohol. Malty, somewhat alcoholic taste with caramel and woody licorice - I feel the aroma elements don’t ’hang together’ particularly well. Medium body, soft carbonation. Some hop bitterness in the malty and relatively dry aftertaste.

Bottle. Deep brown reddish body with a small, off-white top. Aroma is dark malts and hints of raisins. Taste is roasted malts with hints of dark fruits and perhaps even a bit of wood. Filling mouthfeel. One of the best among its weight class of Christmas beers in Norway. Or, at least, certainly not among the worst.
