3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dashimus (169) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2013
Bottle from the vinbud in Borganes, Iceland. Pours golden with a white head and good lacing that is fairly short lived. Aroma is citrus hops, lychee, pine, sort fruits like peaches and Melon. Slight hints of malt but almost entirely hidden. Very fresh smell. Flavour is strong bitter with a long after taste and moderate to strong carbonation.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Foxbush (991) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - APR 1, 2013
.3 l bottle This was enjoyed with lunch in Reykjavik at a local restuarant 73. The IPA was one of the best beers I had while in Iceland. The ale poured a clear light amber with a white head and was served in a sniffer glass. This was one of the most balanced IPAs with bitter citric hops that create a mouthful of flavor. The citric hops are noticed on the nose with hints of resin. The medium bodied ale had average carbonation. The finish was dry with more citric hops.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 esp0r (1259) - NORWAY - MAR 19, 2013
Bottle enjoyed outside a place in Reykjavik with really really bad service, sadly i can’t remember the name. You can probably spot it by the free birds drinking liqour from a bottle in a paper bag or maybe even from a ketchup bottle on a nearby bench trying to get attention from the tourist girls
Copper clear, white head. Smells of herbs, malts, hints of flowers and citrus. Taste is quite neutral, moderate sweet, clean for an ipa. Medium bitter finish with some resins.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 smm (15) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 12, 2013
330ml bottle from bluondous 070613 expiration
Deep red orange with a slight head. Smells of light citrus hops and a bit of grass. Citrus in the hop profile, grapefruit rind and a light malt backbone adds a nice sweetness. It has a nice brightness with a fairly dry bitter finish. Although Iceland has a lot of European overtones their beer seems to err on the side of the USA. 5.9% is on the lower end for an IPA, but it definitely doesn’t drink like a straight up pale. Through the course of a bottle it finishes a bit murky and there is a hint of astringency, but nothing like some of the terrible malty bombs of an IPA one sees stateside.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mrtavora (25) - - JAN 6, 2013
Good beer, loses points for a somewhat too-sweet-for-my-taste hoppiness and for a slightly too bitter aftertaste (again, a personal taste), then again I think it’s fair to say this IPA has some real personality
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 NordicV (760) - Malmö, Sweden, SWEDEN - NOV 22, 2012
Gyllene öl med livligt gulvitt skum. Mycket blommig doft med fläderblom, citrus och clementin. Smaken är även den ganska blommig med en kraftig citrusbeska/grape som nästa går över mot det beska vita innanför skalet.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mzaar (890) - Varberg, SWEDEN - OCT 28, 2012
Flaska 33 cl, Café Paris, Reykjavik. Nektariner.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - SEP 4, 2012
330ml brought from Iceland to a rating session in Tromsø, by the courtesy of Elisabeth & Stefan. Rocky white head that laces well over a clear golden body. Fresh, fruit hoppy smell. Taste follows suit with fine moments of pine and citric fruits alongside mid-sweet malts. Nice bittersweet round off. Pleasing IPA. 20.08.2012.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7311) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 18, 2012
Small transparant head over copperish-golden, clear beer. Fruity with peach, nectarine, rosewater, lychee. Very inviting, if a tad ’light’. Bitterish-fruity, but somewhere a rather welcome mild sweetness, again fruity; lychee, melon, bitter(ish) melon. Served cold, very refreshing. For its light body, not empty at all. Medium carbonation, more feel than visual. In itself, a quite good light IPA. Seen its origins, revolutionary. Excellent find, Klaas!
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BoBoChamp (4194) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 18, 2012
33cl, as Úlfur India Pale Ale Nr. 3, new exclusive Icelandic brew Anno 2011, tasted at Gents Bierfestival 2012, complex brew, malty/floral and slightly bitter/sweet, balanced, clear, small head, nice brew, yet expensive!
