3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
An impressive first Icelandic IPA. Really hoppy, with a nice fruity aroma. Lacks a little in fullness, and the tast dosnt last long, although the hoppy flavour builds up over time

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(33 cl bottle brought home to me by my wonderful colleague Lukas, thanks a bunch! BBD: December 23rd 2015) Pours a clear golden with one-finger white foamy head that leaves lace. Medium carbonation. Aroma is hop-forward with a dominant citrusy note. Oily texture, medium body and a lingering dry finish. Flavour is dry and with a moderate bitterness. On the overall I find this beer to be crisp and hop-forward, which is what I like in an IPA but perhaps the hop expression is a bit to demanding on the bitterness and a bit too single-minded in the composition to be long lasting for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a bottle.
Aroma is a balanced blend of hops and malt. Some moderate malt notes with some caramel and toasted bread. Light cracker notes. Moderate grapefruit and resin hop notes. Light stone fruit notes.
Pours a clear, golden copper color with a medium sized, moderately thick, rocky, white head that exhibits decent retention. Moderately high lacing and small legs.
Flavor is moderately sweet with some toasted bread and caramel notes. Lighter cracker notes. Medium high to high bitterness. Moderate grapefruit and resin with some dank notes. Bitterness helps dry out the finish and lingers for a bit.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, an alright IPA in tradition with the ’90s West Coast IPAs. Balanced hops and malt, but too malty for me with older style hops. Could be fruitier and less malty.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
tap @ Skuli Craft Bar
Orange clear beer with dense persistent white head. Aroma has tropical fruits and caramel. Flavor has bitterness, soap, caramel and fruits. Palate is quite full and foamy. Finish has quite strong bitterness. Aftertaste has pineapple, soap, bitterness and alcohol. Quite heavy for an IPA, almost like a DIPA:

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle@Hilton Hotel Bar - Reykjavik. Pours clear amber with medium white head with just enough retention. Aroma is citrusy American hops with a litlle caramel malt. Nice hoppy flavour, again citrusy, spicy and moderately bitter. Did this beer the disfavour of having had the Double IPA the day before, which is not a fair comparison. Made the IPA seem to have a quite watery palate, but again that is compared to the creaminess of the DIPA. The IPA is a nicely balanced example of the species, not spectacular but certainly good - especially considering the reasonable ABV.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle at 73 in Reykjavik, pours an opaque cloudy orange with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of juicy oranges and some faded piney hops. Flavour is very fruity, with lots of stone fruits, dry astringent piney hops, and some hop resins. Can’t tell if this is fresh or not. Unusual flavours but quite nice.
