1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 CanadaCam (109) - CANADA - JUN 18, 2007
500ml can. Pours OK, looks OK, smells a little metallic. Far, far too hoppy with an almost burning aftertaste on the palate. Not the absolute worst I’ve ever had, but I will definitely not be buying this one again.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 Cletus (6025) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 28, 2007
250ml can. Pours yellow and fizzy. Tastes moderately nutty with some sparse hoppy elements. Drinkable, but not worth the money.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 pootzboy (1284) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 22, 2007
500ml can..no date code
Hard pour puts a crystal clear gold lager in the glass with a instantly disappearing cap and no lacing ( uh-oh is see adjucts)
Aroma...like wet paste board soaked in weak corn syrup ( uh-oh is smell dextrin syrups)
Taste: fizzy, bland, watery, wealk malt presence, over filtered with the prominenece of stale over-boiled cheap hop pellets..finish is dry, fast and there is a malt/corn extract cardboard after taste (uh-oh I taste malt extracts and dextrin syrup suppliments)
Now I know why I waited years to buy just one to sample because buying six would leave 5 to go bad waiting for me to revist this bland over-processed concoction....in the vein of domestic extract-brewed buck a beer swill, but priced like a premium import...pass it up.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 caledonian (367) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 21, 2007
Can. Pale golden. Sweet, with a hint of breadiness. Pretty average, but inoffensive.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 KingofCastle (202) - London, Ontario, CANADA - APR 18, 2007
can: Massive carbonated pale lagerish brew. What’s up with the name & pretentious flag oath on the front? Weird. Should read, "I am Boris & I can’t brew beer." Now I was recovering from a sinus infection so this review may be off but I trust my gut on this one. Is this a hopless beer? Champagne finish? What is this? A beer for old ladies?! Almost no bite or definitve quality. Very light. Pale colour. Thin white head. Surprising lacing. Tastes like 4.5%. Corn taste ala Faxe, but odd tangy finish which grew on me despite not enjoying this beer from the start. Not sure the French know what they are doing when it comes to beer. You want quality pilsner, get Steamwhistle, MIll St. Organic or even J.R. Brickman, forget this one.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 wilderthanyou (587) - Guelph, CANADA - APR 14, 2007
Pours a golden yellow, with a foamy head that has very little retention and leaves behind a white film. Aroma of hops, herbs, and urine. A very thin beer, not alot to it, a bit of hops, a bit of malts, a delayed semi dry finish. Did not expect much from this beer, and did not get much, so i can’t say i’m dissapointed but I don’t think i’ll buy this beer again.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 CaptainCougar (6746) - Boz Scaggsville, Maryland, USA - MAR 21, 2007
Bottle sampled on 11/8/06: Pours a pale champagne golden with a thin coating of white head. Aroma of lightly sweet caramel and noble hops. Body starts with a decent amount of sweet malt and thins toward a slightly bitter finish with a lager yeasty profile. A pretty standard pilsner.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 13, 2007
Pours a clear gold, with maybe a quarter inch of white foam. Maybe. Some lacing throughought the whole 8+ ounces, which surprised me. Light skunk and even lighter hops in the aroma. Didn’t exactly smell healthy.
Pungent and tart flavor dominate, something like taking the negative aspects of a stale Canadian lager and amplifying them. Not an ’ale’ taste by any means. An impudent sensation of grassy hops dominates the intial flavor. A mild, green grape-like flavor comes in at mid-sip. It finishes dry, again something more like a lager than an ale, and a generic tartness lingers into the aftertaste. Light body - where’s the malt?
I enjoyed..., nope. I liked..., nope. I *tolerated* subsequent sips better than the first sip, but still, I am not inclined to buy this one again
