Unfortunately, this one does not stand up to the world class dubbels despite being from Belgium, I would have expected something better from the makers of Gulden Draak and Piraat. It is still a decent beer and was not totally disappointed, just will not race to the store to get it again. It kind of tasted like an alchoholized Dr. Pepper with prickley carbonation. Next up 100 ratings, so what will I drink, hmmmm?

Bottle, Hop Devil, Zagreb; drunk in the bizarre enviorons of a mocked up trappist monastery in the bowels of a shopping centre, prior to heading to the Maksimir Stadium to witness Theo Walcott’s hat-trick for England !!!! Poured a hazy dark brown with a big ol’ rocky head. Aroma had yeast and sweet malt with a hint of fruit. Flavour was sweetish with some spice. Bit sticky. Drinkable, but lacking in wow factor.

Bottled. Light beige head is large and long lasting. Nice lace formation. Liquid is dark brown to amber. Aroma has quite intese banana, yeast and sweet caramel. Malts are medium roasted, dark and caramelly in the finish. Peppery spiciness and some sour fruitness of fermented fruits. Alcohol is well hidden. Flavor is quite only medium sweet, more like sour to me. Some bitterness in the finish. Palate is carbonated and foaming and a bit thin. Sticky texture in the finish, otherwise slick and quite oily. Simple but quite OK duppel. A bit too carbonated.

33 cl bottle - Pours a clear deep mahogany color with a large off white. Nice layered lacing. Aroma is yeast, esters, and sugar. Flavor is sweet dark esters and brown sugar. The sweetness lingers a tad, almost cloying. Medium body. A decent beer.

Pours a thick head and has a muddy brown color. When the head goes down it looks like oil on water. Pretty fruity aroma. Fruity and sweet taste. A lot of malts in it. A rather uneventful double, but still a good brew. Thick body.

This beer looks interesting. The picture has a beer with a head very white, and the beer is more transparent than translucent. Well, the picture does not look like the beer I poured. It is the exact same bottle, except the dubbel and double translation that had to be made to accompany my lack of common sense. Anyways, the beer looks like a caramel brown. I mean this beer looks like liquid caramel. The head is very nice and tight, there is not too much of it and not too little. This beer seemed heavily carbonated when I poured it, so who knows what will happen. This beer is extremely aromatic. A nice yeast and fruit flavor. Wow, this aroma packs a punch. There is no aroma of alcohol, but the sweet candy/dark fruit smell is just everywhere. The alcohol is well hidden. This beer has a sweet before and after taste. A little burn in the throat which is surprising because I did not feel any alcohol on the way down. This beer is extremely fruity tasting. Leaves a sweet taste on the tongue but the beer is just too fruity. There are not many nuances in the taste. I can taste sweet, and that is about it. Too overpowering for me in the fruit department, and the carbonation is a bit much too. The beer smells awesome, but for one of the first times ever this beer tastes just like it smells. If you want an extremely fruity beer, this is your beer. Decent brew.

A nice enough dubbel. Great head with beautiful lacing. Will revisit another time perhaps.
