33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, yet easy to drink, hazy, rocky head, nice brew, but not a topper

White solid foam. Nice dark amber colour. Phenolic aroma. Some acid in taste!

Bottle, very fleeting aroma that I’d discribe as yeasty. Pours dark brown with a nice light brown head. Crisp taste with just a hint of tart. Lots of CO2 finishes quickly. Not alot going on with this one but very drinkable and rather refreshing.

Cloudy mahogany with an airy beige lacy head. Aroma of toasted malts, grainy yeast, fruit, alcohol, sugar and biscuits. Taste of fruit, plum, alcohol, sugar and nuts. Chewy body that’s over-carbonated and finishes akin to diet cola with some dryness involved.

11.2 ounce bottle from a mixed 6 pack that was purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma is a bit bready, yeasty, roasted, with some sour notes. Also has some sort of floral church incense aromas. Weird aroma. Doesn’t smell "right". Transparent cola-colored body with a very large frothy khaki head. Very foamy. Lightly sweet start with some very faint grainy, chocolate flavors with a little estery yeast flavors. Um, this is relatively flavorless and pretty boring. Uninspired.

Bottle: dark brown off white head. Decent beer heavily carbonated not much flavor with dry finish. I was expecting more.

commercial description of the color works for me... or rich brown with cherry stained wood hues and a gigantic scalded cream colored head which leaves random sheets of lacing in it’s wake. smells really malty and fruity... oxidized red apples, yeast, wood and some warm spiciness. the flavor reminds my of a riesling or lightly sweet white wine... golden raisins, malt powder, more bruised apples, brown sugar, chocolate and yeast. there’s even some tannic structure as well akin to black cherries and a light acidity on the tongue. the finish dries out nicely and leaves behind some yeasty aftertaste. light to medium body with an airy texture from big soft bubbles...

Color of weak medium-body coffee, that’s a good call. Head is rocky and goes on forever. Aroma marks this as a sister to other Van Steenberge beers, must be a yeast thing. Sweet candi-sugar is way in the background under a ’place’ kinda smell that I can’t pinpoint... not medicinal, but sterile... maybe the tank it was fermented in? Pleasant creamy body and mouthfeel. Though nothing startling, i could see this being addictive, but then I like the style. Kind of a floral-creamy aftertaste and an overall likability.
