COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Very dark, coffee color - full rich body - staying head - effervescent nose - soft velvet feeling in the mouth - luscious. Malt character with a hoppy aftertouch. Monks used to fast on this type of beer for 40 days! No food, only beer.

A fine dark beer that has a very light malt taste its very easy to drink but be careful it hits you hard after a few.

Dark red-brown, close to black coloured. Big off-white, maybe even beige head. Lookks very good. Aroma of some chocolate and sweet red fruits. , a little sourness inside. Not my favorite aroma. Some weird roastiness comes up at the taste. Lots of red fruits inside. Not really my beer, drinkeable. A bit watery, and not really balanced it seems.

Draught @ Sharp Edge Creekhouse: This one was served in a Bornem Chalice. It poured a dark, opaque brown color with a large off-white head. Lots of lacing from this one. The aroma was lighter. Some breadyness, yeast, chocolate and subdued dark fruits. The taste is very good. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness: it is almost neither. Hint of chocolate and roastiness to the taste. Nice blend of caramel malts and dark fruits in the background.

This came in a variety pack. Pours a dark brown almost black in color. Plenty of carbonation and a huge head. White he’d with scents of mushrooms, raisins, little alcohol, and pomegranite. There is also a sweet hint of licorice. Starts of with plenty of carbonation that open up the flavor profile. I get licorice with a lingering flavor of raisins. Chocolate seems to also play a role. A little sweet malt balances out the alcohol profile. I like this one.

Bottled- dark red-brown with a poofy white head. Aroma hints at toasted, dark malts, flavor is similar, dark malty and sugary sweet also toasted but with a boozy backbone touching dark candy sweetness. Beer finishes burnt, lightly sticky, and medium bitter.

330mL bottle, pours dark amber / brown with a big white head. Aroma of caramel malts and dark fruit. Flavour of toffee, dark fruits, molasses, some sweetness and a bit of sour/bitter finish. Very pleasant.
